With rain forecasted for the next few days, there is a good possibility that Wednesday's featured 9th race at Churchill Downs, a mile and a sixteenth optional claimer for fillies and mares scheduled for the turf, will be transferred to the main track.

Churchill enjoyed beautiful spring weather for their opening weekend of racing with seven of the twenty-one races (33 percent) being won by favorites.  The main track was fast both days and, while speed was advantageous, horses on the inside appeared to be at a disadvantage. On the turf early pace was also an asset.

With a beautiful day forecasted for Sunday, the feature at Churchill is a mile and a sixteenth optional claimer on the turf which is carded as race nine on the ten race program.

ON MY DIME is the most unlikeliest of favorites in the first race on opening day under the Twin Spires. The five-year-old gelding ships in from Turf Paradise while making his first start for little-known trainer Troy Newton.

The long-range forecast shows only a 10% chance of rain for opening day, Friday at Calder, so there is an excellent chance that conditions will be fast and firm for the 10-race card.
