Analysis

Race 1

SABINO (2) was a good second at this level in his debut and needs to improve only a little from that effort to get the victory here. AREYOUAPHI (3) is a first-time starter from a sharp barn that can have juveniles ready to go early on. He attracts Borel and looks ready for a good effort. UNETHICAL (4) is another first timer start from a good 2-year-old outfit and has a chance at a share of this.

2-3-4

Race 2

REAPPEARANCE (4) has hit the board in most of her starts and could possibly take this field from gate-to-wire today with careful handling. MUST BE GOLD (5) has closed ground and finished well in her latest efforts. She goes for one of the leading stables at the meet, which makes her a must use. AFFAIR TO REMEMBER (1) has shown little in four tries, but today’s class drop could give her a chance to be closer at the finish.

4-5-1

Race 3

STAR CREST (7) goes first off the claim for the Borel brothers and she can be a contender in this well-matched group with a return to her previous form. She has a sprint win here and can handle the one-turn mile with these. MISS STACK (6) was a timely winner from off the pace on Polytrack last out and has been in good recent form while facing slightly better. SEEYALATALITGATA (4) and MISPARKLE TOO (3) have won two-in-a-row on Polytrack. They’ll be competitive if they transfer that form to the dirt.

7-6-4

Race 4

OCOLUNA (2) is a first-time starter with decent works from a good stable. She could come out running at first asking against a fairly weak field of juvenile maiden claimers. GRACE CHAPEL (1) raced evenly after she broke poorly in her debut. A better break from her inside post and the experience gained in that race could move her forward. CREPE (8) broke terribly in her only start and was well-beaten in a strong maiden race. That race’s third-place finisher came back to win easily and its last place finisher won on Thursday against maiden allowance fields.

2-1-8

Race 5

TIZZY (3) has been knocking at the door to break his maiden and seems the most likely to get the better of this group for a hot jockey and trainer combination. CHRIS GOT EVEN (1) was completely eliminated at the break and shortly after in his first local start. His previous two races in Florida were solid and he could make amends with a good trip from just off the pace. COACH RYAN (8) adds blinkers and makes his first start for the Amoss stable. He will have to improve greatly to be a danger to the top pair, but the equipment change could keep him closer to the pace.

3-1-8

Race 6

NO LLORES CATITA (1) returns to a turf course over which she has enjoyed past success. She has run well against better in all three of her local grass starts and needs only to work out a trip from the rail today. CIERRA’S JUNEBUG (6) and STAY FOR THE STORM (7) ship in from Tampa for Lori Smock and each brings strong turf sprint credentials. They are well-placed in this mid-level claimer and complement each other's running styles.

1-6-7

Race 7

AWESOME SIX (9) broke poorly but just missed in her debut on the turf. She should get away from the gate better from today’s outside draw and find a nice early spot not far off the pace. SANDSTORM CAT (2) was an unlucky loser by a nose in a race that was rained off the turf. She has the pedigree to handle the turf and seems set for a big effort in her second race off the layoff. PALM PRINCESS (3) finished second as a tepid favorite in a marathon maiden turf event last out. She seems capable of being close to the pace again today and adds to the depth of this field.

9-2-3

Race 8

BADGER BARRY (5) is in very sharp form and looks to get a perfect set up in this spot today as there appears to be plenty of speed for his closing kick. This is a strong group if allowance runners and he will have to be able to repeat his last effort to be a factor. SHONE (4) has always had the ability to be a top allowance horse and finally broke through with a big win off a long layoff last out. He should be in stalking position behind a contested pace. FIRST DEGREE (3) will likely be part of the pace and has displayed an affinity for the Churchill strip. He has been unable to hold on lately and is questionable at seven furlongs if he’s pushed early on.

5-4-3

Race 9

FAR EAST GOLD (8) just missed on Polytrack to Georgetown, who ran in Saturday’s Matt Winn. He has been ultra-consistent and should get a good tracking position from his outside post. MANAGER BOIRE (4) drops back to a sprint after failing at two turns. He defeated the top pick in his maiden win and picks up leading rider Leparoux. DUE DATE (6) was making a nice move when he was bumped soundly and that might have cost him third last time out. The runner-up that day came back to win and looks well-suited for seven furlongs.

8-4-6

Race 10

DUTY ROSTER (7) was claimed out of a dull effort last out by the sharp team of owner Maggi Moss and trainer Tom Amoss. Expect this one to rebound with one of his better performances, which makes him the choice here. COSTALEGRE (9) could not last in a tougher allowance race last out, but seems perfectly suited today’s slight turn-back in distance. PLEASE INCLUDE ME (3) exits a much tougher open claiming race and can be a factor in this high-priced conditioned claimer as he makes his third start off a layoff.

11-5-2

Value Plays

Race 6

NO LLORES CATITA (1) returns to the turf after two races over the Polytrack surface. She ran three times here at Churchill Downs at this level under these conditions last year and hit the board on all three occasions. She will be competitive for the win in this event.

Let’s play No Llores Catita (1) across the board at 7-2 or up. Suggest using Read the Label (5) and Lil Mai Tai (2) in exotics.

Race 7

SANDSTORM CAT (2) finished second by a nose last time out in a race taken off the turf. She gets to try the grass for the first time in this outing which she should relish given the turf influence on the bottom half of her pedigree.

Let’s play Sandstorm Cat (2) across the board at 3-1 or up. Suggest using Palm Princess (3), Awesome Six (9) and Harpeth (8) in exotics.

Race 9

MANAGER BOIRE (4) returns to a one-turn distance race after two unsuccessful attempts going a route of ground. This one is probably crying out for a chance to try running on the turf course but should benefit from the cut in distance in this race.

Let’s play Manager Boire (4) across the board at 6-1 or up. Suggest using E Z Phone Home (1), Far East Gold (8) and Connecticut Yankee (3) in exotics.
