Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton’s Astrology, an impressive 2 ¾-length winner of Churchill Downs’ Iroquois (Grade III) on Oct. 31, heads a field of seven 2-year-olds entered Wednesday for Saturday’s 84th running of the $150,000-added Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (GII) at 1 1/16 miles on the main track.
A year ago, a lightly raced 3-year-old named Blame used a victory in the Fayette (Grade II) at Keeneland as a springboard to victory in his subsequent start in the Clark Handicap Presented by Norton Healthcare, then a Grade II event and the highlight of the 2009 Fall Meet at Churchill Downs.

Flaxman Holdings, Ltd.’s Aruna surged to the front in upper stretch and pulled away from a ground-saving Wild Mia in the run to the wire to win the 20th running of the $199,675 Mrs. Revere (GII) for 3-year-old fillies by 1 ¾ lengths at Churchill Downs on Saturday afternoon.
G. Watts Humphrey Jr. and the Louise Ireland Humphrey Revocable Trust-2008’s Veiled Prophet swept past dueling leaders Whitley and Ordination (IRE) inside the eighth pole and went on to win Friday’s $57,110 feature for 3-year-olds and up by three-quarters of a length before a “Downs After Dark” crowd of 15,583 at Churchill Downs.
For the second time in a week’s period, Churchill Downs Racetrack will raise overnight purses because of higher than expected all-sources wagering levels. Effective immediately (Friday, Nov. 19), overnight race purses will be increased 20 percent for the final eight days of the Fall Meet, which concludes its 21-day run on Sunday, Nov. 28.
