(November 29, 2008) – William Stiritz’s Proceed Bee collared favored Jack Spratt at the sixteenth pole and then held off Smart Shot in the final yards to win the $57,200 Grand Canyon for 2-year-olds by three-quarters of a length on Saturday afternoon at Churchill Downs.

(November 28, 2008) – Jockey Julien Leparoux broke a 23-year-old Churchill Downs record for wins at a Fall Meet on Friday when he rode Just Like William to a head victory in the third race for his 56th triumph of the meet. It was his second win on the day. He also won the second race aboard Calabria.
(November 27, 2008) – Domino Stud of Lexington, Inc.’s Miss Isella, getting a patented rail-skimming ride from Calvin Borel, won Thursday’s 93rd running of the $169,800 Falls City Handicap (GII) by a length over Skylighter on Thanksgiving Day at Churchill Downs.
Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s favored Jamaludin took control on the final turn and cruised to a 5 ½-length victory in Wednesday’s $44,620 Thanksgiving Eve allowance feature at Churchill Downs.
Joseph Rauch and David Zell’s Capt Candyman Can, a smashing three-length winner of the Iroquois (Grade III) at Churchill Downs on Nov. 1, is the marquee name in a field of 10 entered Wednesday for the 83rd running of the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (GII) to be run at 1 1/16 miles on Saturday.
