Holiday Betting Bargains Abound in Earliest Kentucky Derby Future Wager, But 'All Others" Heavily Favored
Thanksgiving Weekend racing fans looking for great deals on contenders for the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (Grade I) have opportunities this week to do their earliest shopping ever as Churchill Downs’ Kentucky Derby Future Wager (“KDFW”) opens a four-day run on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
As it engages ongoing competitive challenges that include gaming-enhanced purses at other racetracks and continued growth of casino competition in its home region, Churchill Downs Racetrack (“CDRT”) has announced a reduction in purses that will affect four races scheduled during the eight days remaining in the 25-day Fall Meet that continues through Saturday, Nov. 30.
1. Admission gates for “Downs After Dark Presented by Stella Artois and Finlandia Vodka” will open Saturday at 3 p.m. (all times Eastern) and the first of 10 races will begin at 4:30 p.m. The final race will be 9:08 p.m. and the on-track party will continue in Club 140 until 10:30 p.m.
Louisville’s rising country music star Olivia Henken, who garnered national attention as a Top 20 finalist on Season 5 of NBC’s “The Voice,” will entertain guests Saturday night (Nov. 16) at Churchill Downs with a special performance during “Downs After Dark Presented by Stella Artois and Finlandia Vodka.”
Fans can now back their opinion on the prospects for next year’s Kentucky Derby sooner rather than later. For the first time, Churchill Downs Racetrack will add a fourth pool to its popular Kentucky Derby Future Wager and it will coincide with closing week of the racetrack’s 25-day Fall Meet: Wednesday, Nov. 27 through Saturday, Nov. 30.
Churchill Downs will have special post times for its 10-race programs on Friday (Nov. 1) and Saturday (Nov. 2) so the races coincide but don’t overlap with a simulcast of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships from Santa Anita.
