Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear Announces 'Horses and Hope' to Fight Breast Cancer

On July 18, Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear announced Horses and Hope, an initiative she has created with the Kentucky Cancer Program. The project will foster work with the state's equine industry to identify new opportunities to provide breast cancer awareness, education, screening and treatment referral, as well as to raise funds to sustain programs into the future.

Funeral For Track Announcer Luke Kruytbosch To Be Held At Churchill Downs On Monday At 1 P.M.

(July 18, 2008) - The funeral service for popular track announcer Luke Kruytbosch, the "Voice of the Kentucky Derby" since 1999, will be held in Churchill Downs' paddock garden on Monday, July  21, at 1 p.m. ET.

Luke Kruytbosch, the announcer at historic Churchill Downs and the “Voice of the Kentucky Derby” since 1999, has died.
 
His body was found Monday morning in an apartment Kruytbosch (pronounced KRITE-boss) was renting in Evansville, Ind.  No official cause of death has been announced, but published reports indicate that it appears that he had died of natural causes.
