Roy and Gretchen Jackson, the owners of 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, will join Churchill Downs and Kentucky Derby Museum representatives for a news conference on Thursday, May 1, to introduce the artist that has been selected to create a permanent memorial honoring Barbaro.  The Kentucky Derby 132 winner died in January 2007

Winchell Thoroughbreds’ Pyro, the 5-1 second choice in Pool 3 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, will go for his third straight victory of 2008 when he faces 11 rivals Saturday in the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (Grade I) at Keeneland.

Kentucky Oaks 134 Update: April 11

For the second time in five weeks, Ariege and Golden Doc A tangled in a prep for the $500,000-added Kentucky Oaks (Grade I).  The result in round two was the same as their first meeting as Ariege, owned by IEAH Stables and Pegasus Holding Group Stables, defeating Ron McCauley’s Golden Doc A by a length in Thursday’s Stonerside Beaumont Stakes (GII) at Keeneland.

Churchill Downs To Open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 for Dubai World Cup Simulcast

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 26, 2008) – Trackside at Churchill Downs will open early at 9 a.m. (all times Eastern) on Saturday, March 29, to import the six lucrative stakes races that comprise the 13th annual Dubai World Cup program from Nad Al Sheba Race Course in the United Arab Emirates.

 

Simulcasting Moving to Trackside Louisville

Due to preparations for the Spring Meet and for Kentucky Derby 134 on Saturday, May 3, Churchill Downs will move simulcasting operations to its Trackside Louisville facility at 4520 Poplar Level Road from Wednesday, April 2, through Friday, April 25.  Simulcasting will also be available at Trackside Louisville on Kentucky Oaks Day, Friday, May 2; Kentucky Derby Day; and on Sunday, May 4.

Churchill Downs is open for simulcast wagering on Easter Sunday, March 23. Admission is free all day and and simulcasting includes Fair Grounds Race Course, Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita. Gates open at noon.
