DERBY WINNER BIG BROWN JOGS AGAIN ON MUDDY TRACK

Stonestreet Stables and Midnight Cry Stable’s reigning “Horse of the Year” Curlin is scheduled to make his first start since his emphatic Dubai World Cup (Grade I) victory on March 29 when he faces nine rivals in the 27th running of the Stephen Foster Handicap (GI) on Saturday at Churchill Downs.

Churchill Downs will offer a supplement to the purse for the 27th running of its Grade I Stephen Foster Handicap on Saturday, June 14.

Reigning "Horse of the Year" Curlin worked an easy half-mile over the main track at Churchill Downs on Monday in preparation for what trainer Steve Asmussen plans as the colt's debut on turf this weekend.

CURLIN ASSIGNED 128 POUNDS FOR GRADE I STEPHEN FOSTER HANDICAP – Stonestreet Stable and Midnight Cry Stable’s reigning “Horse of the Year” Curlin was assigned 128 pounds for next Saturday’s mile and one-eighth Stephen Foster Handicap (Grade I) at Churchill Downs by Racing Secretary Ben Huffman.

ALBARADO STILL ROLLING, HOPING FOR ANOTHER RIDE ON CURLIN - A strong start on the 26-day Fall Meet at Churchill Downs indicates that jockey Robby Albarado is in no danger of slowing down in a 2008 racing season that is close to equaling a 2007 season that was the best of his career.

  A busy Monday at Churchill Downs saw significant training moves by several major stakes winners, including works by reigning “Horse of the Year” Curlin and Belmont Stakes (Grade I) contender Denis of Cork.

Reigning “Horse of the Year” Curlin and three-time Grade I turf winner Einstein, the 1-2 finishers in the $1 million Stephen Foster Handicap (GI) on dirt on June 14, top a list of 35 nominations for the 19th running of the Firecracker Handicap (GII) over the Matt Winn Turf Course at a mile on July 4.

Stonestreet Stable and Midnight Cry Stable’s reigning “Horse of the Year” Curlin completed his serious training for Saturday’s Stephen Foster Handicap (Grade I) with an easy half-mile work on Monday at Churchill Downs.

Mr and Mrs William Warren’s Denis of Cork tuned up for a run at unbeaten Triple Crown contender Big Brown in the June 7 Belmont Stakes (Grade I) with a strong five-furlong workout on Monday at Churchill Downs.

  Reigning “Horse of the Year” Curlin successfully completed the first step in what could be a journey to Paris to run in the famed Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with a solid work under jockey Robby Albarado over the Matt Winn Turf Course on Tuesday at Churchill Downs.

(November 23, 2008) – Stonestreet Stables LLC’s Curlin, North America’s reigning Horse of the Year and the continent’s richest racehorse of all time with earnings of $10,501,800, will be paraded one final time at Churchill Downs on Saturday, Nov. 29 – closing day of the 26-day Fall Meet.

(May 22, 2008) – Jockey Robby Albarado became only the seventh jockey in Churchill Downs history to win 700 races under the Twin Spires when Shive’s Success rallied to three-length victory in Thursday’s seventh race at the historic Louisville track. It was Albarado’s second win of the day.

Florida invader Renda, in town for Saturday’s 108th running of the $100,000-added Debutante Stakes (GIII) for 2-year-old fillies, made her first trip to the Churchill Downs track Friday morning with trainer Juan Arias in the saddle.
