Great Voices of Churchill Downs

In the 134-year history of Churchill Downs and its signature race, the Kentucky Derby, five voices have echoed under the Twin Spires as track announcers for the historic facility.  These voices have called home the likes of Citation and Secretariat, Barbaro and Seattle Slew, and they stand alone as the only permanent track announcers in Churchill history.  Their contributions to the sport and their classic race calls have helped to etch each of their names into Thoroughbred racing history.

Churchill Downs is proud to recognize the contributions of Gene Schmidt, Chic Anderson, Mike Battaglia, Kurt Becker and Luke Kruytbosch to the Kentucky Derby and the legacy of our great sport, and we honor them here with this multimedia reflection on their greatest moments.  Click the links below for more.
