The Future...?
Churchill Downs is currently in the process of seeking a new track announcer to succeed Luke Kruytbosch. This yet-to-be-chosen individual will become only the sixth announcer to call races for on-track and simulcast patrons at Churchill Downs, and will become the latest "Great Voice" of the historic track.
"We are saddened by the unexpected and tragic loss of Luke Kruytbosch, who spent 10 marvelous years in our announcer's booth and became a favorite of both fans and horsemen during that decade," said Churchill Downs General Manager Jim Gates. "While we continue to grieve Luke's passing, it is time to get on with the serious work of searching for his successor."
Who will become the next person in line to capture races in words under the Twin Spires, and step up on the first Saturday in May of 2009 when the world's best Thoroughbreds gather for Kentucky Derby 135? We'll soon find out...
