Race 1
6-4-5
Wyn Jym (6) just finished a good second at this level and figures prominently again in this spot. Dance With Another (4) was behind the top pick last out but had a wide trip that day which may have made the difference. Anabaa’s Fortune (5) is facing winners for the first time off a fairly easy maiden victory.
-
Race 2
2-5-4
Grasmere Park (2) ran evenly against a stronger field last out and gets another half furlong to help his closing style. Envisioning (5) is in good form and exits a close defeat to the record setting Ready’s Rocket. Headstart (4) exits that same key race with a wide trip and can be closer with some racing luck.
-
Race 3
7-1-2
Screenplay (7) is a course winner and is in excellent and consistent form this year. Mr. Mischief (1) has a solid turf record but may have been facing just slightly weaker fields than what he meets today.
-
Race 4
2-6-1
Tippy Toes (2) ran evenly in her debut on a sloppy track. She had the one post that day and can improve with the experience in her second try. Madame George (6) debuts for a sharp juvenile stable with some decent morning drills.
-
Race 5
2-5-7
Taino (2) has run well in all his turf races and should get a perfect ground saving trip from the inside. Close to My Heart (5) just missed in his debut in his only turf try and will likely move up on the return to that surface today. Adaro (7) is another with a good run over the grass and should be in a good stalking spot.
-
Race 6
4-7-2
Cool Bisquit (4) has run well in both her starts and fits well with this group for a stable having a good year. Pure Mary (7) takes the blinkers off today and shortens back up to a middle distance. She should be more relaxed with the equipment change and the outside draw. Utesa (2) had a rough start last out and could not make up ground on a slow pace last out. With a better trip she should be closer from the start.
-
Race 7
6-5-4
Clear Note (6) was a sharp third in his debut on a sloppy track and has come back with two very good workouts since that effort. Golden Gulch (5) struggled to make up ground on a wet track in his return to the races; his pedigree suggests that he should relish the added distance.
-
Race 8
3-6-1
My Perfect Light (3) caught two turf races devoid of early speed and was unable to make up ground late. She gets a better pace setup for today. Twice the Lady (6) just broke her maiden in an off the turf race last out but shows her better performances while on the turf at Tampa. C. S. Royce (1) finally found the winners circle in her eleventh attempt and has the running style to lay close to the leaders here.
-
Race 9
1-3-4
Gentle Tap (1) was an impressive winner at this distance in a race where the second place runner came back to dominate in his next start. He should save ground from the rail and not encounter too much traffic in this shorter field. Meistersinger (3) may end up the pace setter today in a race devoid of any real front runners and if allowed to slow it down early could be hard to catch down the stretch. Scotus (4) has yet to run a poor race and shows a strong recent workout for this.
-
Race 10
4-8-2-1-3
Charming Endeavour (4) had a troubled trip in his debut from the rail post and picks up leading rider Lanerie for his second try. Evanscourt (8) is a debut runner from a good stable and has yet to prove he can’t run. Killin Time (2) has been solid in both Churchill Downs starts and should be close again today. Slew and the City (1) could not overcome traffic trouble last out and will be a factor here with a clean trip.
