Jill Byrne's Handicapping

  • Race 1 4-5-3

Elizabeth Park (4) ships in for a top stable and is in excellent form. She has run well locally and fits well in this starter level race. Dubai’s Connection (5) is consistent and just won a hard fought battle at this level. Tapitforpar (3) had a wide trip when a distant third to the second choice.

  • Race 2 5-4-3

Smarty Slewy (5) seems to have found her level since breaking her maiden and figures tough to go against today. Dancing Tiger (4) is well spotted at this bottom conditioned claimer after winning her first race at River Downs. Forgive Me Honey (3) was outrun in a tougher edition of this race and will appreciate the added distance.

  • Race 3 4-1-7

Condurre (4) debuts for a sharp stable with a solid series of workouts for this level. Brother Dan (1) has the experience edge over many of these and has two good performances locally. Saudi Prince (7) returns to the races with a good morning workout pattern and now tries the maiden claiming ranks off the layoff.

  • Race 4 1-4-3

Valid Citizen (1) comes in off back to back wins at this level over this track and certainly looks capable of continuing that streak today. Spikey Italiano (4) is a newcomer to the local circuit from a top barn. Throw out his last effort and he fits well with these. It’s Gotta Be Us (3) had a rough trip when third behind the top pick and is a threat from off the pace with better racing luck .

  • Race 5 5-6-3

Sweetbriar Academy (5) has a solid turf record and has been successful at this level over many courses. Suz Slew (6) has a win on the Matt Winn turf and on her best is a factor today. Doctor Carina (3) drops in class today and will be closing well if she can overcome her propensity for finding traffic trouble.

  • Race 6 2-10-4

Lobshot (2) made up some ground in her debut run and can improve with the experience of that race. Bandelle (10) has a precocious pedigree for a top stable. She has worked very well over the Polytrack for her first start.

  • Race 7 6-2-1

Awesome Review (6) is undefeated locally including a blowout victory last out and looks like he can repeat here. Vigilante Law (2) is in good form and may have a slight pace advantage over the top pick. After Shock (1) drops sharply for the Lukas stable and figures prominently with this field.

  • Race 8 3-1-7

Dublin Da’bet (3) returns to Churchill in good form and fits well at this level. Parioli’s Trick (1) has been running on turf and synthetic surfaces but has run well on the main track here versus better and looks competitive with these. Ebbtide (7) adds blinkers and comes in off back to back good performances.

  • Race 9 2-1-3

Wise Dan (2) is a graded stakes winner making his third start off a layoff. His running style seems to suit this 7 furlong distance well. Native Ruler (1) has a good local record and is ultra consistent for top connections. Homerun Berti (3) was forced through fast fractions from the rail last out and can get a better stalking trip today which may help him finish up down the stretch.

  • Race 10 1-4-10

Ninety Schillings (1) was an impressive maiden winner last out and seems capable of handling the step up to winners here. Depeche Chat (4) has the experience edge at this level and was hampered by a very wide trip recently. Saratoga Red (10) exits a tough stakes race where he faced older horses and looks better suited to this first level allowance spot.

  • Race 11 2-3-5-1-9

Birdie Beats Par (2) returns to the turf today in good form and gets the slight advantage with his good pace. Bergerac (3) is proven on the turf sprinting and will be rolling late. Zeb (5) may not have handled the added distance last out and is another with proven turf sprint form. Flying Pegasus (1) has the back class to fit with this group and should be able to transfer that form to the grass here. City Cool (9) is another debut turf runner with excellent speed and proven form against stronger fields.
