Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Sharp N Pretty (3) debuts for top connections with a series of useful workouts and a precocious pedigree. Saturday Romp (9) has the experience edge and now drops in class. Reorganization (1) makes her first start from the tough rail post but has a strong stable behind her.
Halo’s Thunder (3) raced evenly against a stronger field last out and must be considered on the step down here. Tapativity (2) has his only victory over the local track and has run well at this level. Z Appeal (7) comes in off a win and has the speed to be in a good spot.
Dubious Miss (6) holds half his wins under the Twin Spires and looks set to add to that record here. Soul Warrior (3) has never missed the board locally and can improve in his second start off a layoff. Our Dark Knight (7) takes a class drop today and can be a factor on his better efforts.
Anthensome (6) has shown nothing against better fields and should improve with the drop and the surface switch. Ride Around Sally (8) has been competitive and has the speed to be effective from the start.
Half Pleasant (1) is in good form at this level and has the speed to be able to over come the inside draw. Vanity’s Showcase (8) could not catch the top pick last out but may get a better pace setup here. Tippy Toes (4) ran well in both her local starts and now drops in class for top connections.
Ninja Blade (3) has run well in all his starts and looks set for his first win today. Grip Hands (9) has good speed from the outside and can improve in his second start off a break. Light Up The Score (6) is inconsistent but has one race that points him out with these.
Enon (1) is the most consistent in this group and has the speed to be in a good spot throughout. Swinging Bernie (4) seems better on turf but does not catch a tough field today.
Lohan (4) is better on the grass and is one for one at the distance.
Africanist (10) had two solid sprint runs at Saratoga and has the pedigree to improve with the added ground. Tritap (8) has run well in both starts too and has worked well locally. Congenial (1) ran evenly in his debut on the Polytrack and can improve with that start.
Dust and Diamonds (9) faltered as the favorite last out and may have regressed in that race having run a huge effort prior. She can rebound here. Moon Buzz (7) was outrun in a Grade 3 stakes race at Saratoga and has good speed to be well placed from the start. Honchis’N Ponchis (4) always runs her race and has a good local record.
Silver Medallion (3) returned to the races with a strong turf effort and has been training well since. He gets a slight edge in this well matched group. Pluck (2) has not returned to the form he showed here when winning last years Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf but would be no surprise to come to life back on the Matt Winn course. Salto (10) accompanied three time Breeders’ Cup winner Goldikova over the pond and fits well with these.
Southern Rocket (5) is better on traditional dirt and goes for a hot barn. Court’s Journey (2) runs well locally and is back in good form. Grinning Gang (9) just broke his maiden but has the speed to be close early. Devil Train (10) ran evenly against stronger and can move forward here. Governor’s Badge (11) may show more on the turn back in distance.
