Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Sustantivo (7) made up some ground in his debut against a stronger field. He should improve with the added distance. Indian Eddie (4) ran well in all three local starts and can move forward in his second start off the layoff. Free Africa (2) is a factor off his last two efforts.
Deborah’s Moment (5) was an easy winner here in the spring and has the fitness edge over the top pick. Eden Star (8) looks to get a good stalking trip from the outside.
Just Memories (3) has a fondness for the local course and the speed to be dangerous from the start. Donna Getyourgun (1) has been facing stronger fields and running evenly since a nice win here in the spring. Costly (7) can pressure the top pick from the outside and shows two solid performances on the Matt Winn Turf Course.
Necaise (5) drops in class and returns to the dirt course, which he seems to prefer. Be Me (2) has a good local record and the speed to be effective from the inside. Sir Jock (3) is in good form and consistently runs well over any surface.
Bekat Bekat (2) had a tough trip in her debut and still managed to finish well. A better start today will put her in the mix late. Another Trick (6) has run evenly in her last two starts and is working well locally for this. Surf Diva (11) showed speed in her first start before fading and can improve off that effort.
Fan favorite Ready’s Rocket (11) returns to his favorite track and distance and will be able to track the other speed from his outside draw. Plasma Brew (2) comes east off the claim and has been facing stronger fields recently. Gruenewald (1) is a deep closer and will get a positive pace scenario today.
R Fast Cat (10) goes off the claim for top connections and ran well here in the spring meet. Quiet Assault (7) drops in class today and has the speed to be a danger to take this field from the start.
Indian Miss (2) exits an extremely fast maiden race where she was pressured from the start. She has the pedigree to move forward with the switch to dirt today. Sacristy (8) was a neck in front of the top pick last out and has worked very well locally for her third try. Lobshot (1) ran well in both her local starts in the spring and has trained steadily for her return today.
Newsdad (8) was an easy winner last out for the hottest stable on the grounds and can handle this next condition. He gets some speed to stalk and looks in a good spot here. Versailles Road (10) showed a new style of running on the front last out and with the rail out on the turf he could be tough to run down late. Tahoe Lake (1) is in good form and has run well over the Matt Winn turf.
Model’s Memo (12) will have to work out a trip from the outside post but gets a lot of pace to set up her solid late run today. Lava Fire (8) will be part of that pace and rarely runs a poor race on dirt. Leather Laces (9) is consistent at this level and should be a part of the exotics.
