Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Coosada (8) is in good form and has a solid local record. Sok Sok (7) has back class that towers over this field and is clearly the one to beat today.
Brother Bird (7) faltered badly off the long layoff last out and now drops into this easier conditioned claiming event. Palatine Hill (1) is better suited to the main track and has the speed to be effective from the rail. Fort Defiance (2) comes in off a win and can be a factor on his best.
Truly Devoted (1) goes for the hottest barn on the grounds and is well placed to get the win today. My Friend Gail (7) will appreciate the added ground and has run well in both her starts. Miss Celebration (3) has had many chances but has run well enough in several tries to be a factor with these.
The Underling (6) has run well locally and has been facing better. She has a good running style and has worked well since her last start. Dances With Ashley (4) faltered in stakes company last out and picks up leading rider Leparoux for today. Speedacious (2) may not have cared for soft turf and Polytrack but shows a good race over this track against better and adds to the depth of this field.
Thomas Hill (2) ran well in his debut and can improve with that experience and the switch to traditional dirt. Grand Encounter (10) has run evenly against better competition and has put in a good series of local works for this. Bitter Truth (9) is a debut runner from a good stable with some solid morning drills and a precocious pedigree.
Woodbourne (5) takes a class drop for a sharp stable and has the speed to be effective from the start. Formulaforsuccess (9) makes his first start for a barn with good stats off the claim. He has a good turf record and a win locally. Sporty (3) is another of the class droppers in here with a propensity for the Matt Winn turf. He will be rolling late and gets a good pace scenario.
Kidding (12) takes a sharp move down the claiming ladder and can be competitive on her form from last winter. Bell of Buddha (8) steps up in class in the best form of this field and will be well placed from the start.
Ever So Lucky (4) has been training well for his debut including a bullet workout locally. He has a strong pedigree to be ready to go first out and picks up Leparoux for today. Do I Do (3) has also been burning up the track in the morning for a stable that has been sending out many winners at the meet. Saturday’s Charm (12) is another runner from the Asmussen barn with solid morning drills and a precocious pedigree.
Ballyclough (9) has never run a poor race and has the speed to be clear from the start. He has proven himself sprinting on the grass and gets the edge with these. Wildcat Nation (3) has been away from the races for over a year but showed some life when running this distance on the turf prior to the vacation. Taproot (1) was just behind the top pick in his last start and has a turf sprint win.
Sarah’s Kitten (3) drops back in to a conditioned claimer and should handle the switch to dirt with these. She Can Fly (2) has run well over this track and has been close at this level. Letter to Henny (9) is the class dropper in here for a strong team and looks like a top contender. Acacian Spirit (6) and Kenyafly (11) have both run well in their starts and fit with this group.
