Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Babette’s Belle (6) is a debut runner with consistent workouts and a pedigree to be ready to go first out. Sweet Joan (4) is another debut runner with a precocious pedigree and some decent morning drills. Inner Truth (7) has the experience edge and showed some life at a lower claiming price in her last few efforts.
Follow Your Heart (7) goes for top connections and is not ambitiously placed today. She looks fit of her works for this and gets the edge here. Makenzie’s Magic (8) ran evenly against a stronger group last out and is the one to beat if the top pick comes up short. Silver Stef (9) is bred to improve with the distance and now drops in class for her second start as well.
Sympathy Act (6) made up all the ground after a poor start to win her debut and is well placed to remain undefeated today. Sooner Humor (4) faded versus a slightly stronger group last out and should be around closer at the finish. Aroney (2) takes another drop down the claiming ladder and will be running late.
Awaassif (6) has shown good speed against better on the Polytrack and should be able to carry that pace a bit further with this group on traditional dirt. Peachy Baby (9) had a tough trip in her debut and was unable to recover. The class drop and experience should move her forward today. Fiscal Fitness (10) has been working evenly for her debut and has a pedigree to be quick from the start.
Bravo Habibi (1) is another that should move forward off his debut run for top connections and exits a quickly run race. Gold Megillah (7) ran well in his turf debut and then was the victim of a tough trip while facing stakes company. A better trip and the return to maidens should put him in the mix today.
Oh My Sweetie Pie (3) makes her Churchill debut in good form and looks capable of bringing that consistency to the local surface. Miss Ziggy (4) has the proven local form and will appreciate the drop in class today. Grace By Design (9) ran well beyond her odds last out and can be a factor here if she can repeat that effort.
Alpha Tammy (3) exits a good effort in a tougher field last out and has a solid record here at this level. Sweetsouthernheart (1) turns back in distance and will be running late in this field with a good deal of pace up front.
Cozzetti (5) improved on the turf when stretching out and has been working sharply for this. He gets leading rider Leparoux. Optionality (7) is bred for the grass and goes for a top turf stable.
Cool Bullet (3) makes his second start off the layoff and shows a quick workout for this. He also attracts Leparoux aboard and adds to the depth of this wide open field. Tend (6) is fairly consistent and finished in front of the top pick when they met. He won a strong race here last fall but was subsequently disqualified.
Laope (5) ran well in both starts here and can improve in his second try off the layoff. Smokin Prince (2) drops to the bottom today off two good performances for a hot stable. Norway (12) fits well off his last race and has the speed to get position from his far outside post. Bully Around (10) returns to conditioned claimers and has the pace to be a factor from the start. Killin Time (6) has never missed the board in five local tries and figures in the exotics.
