Jill Byrne's Handicapping

  • Race 1 3-2-6

Banded (3) drops from the allowance ranks for a sharp team and should get some speed in here to set up her run. Cobra Kiss (2) was a timely winner as the favorite in her debut and need only transfer that form to the dirt today to be a factor. Paoili (6) returned from a layoff in good form and has worked well for this.

  • Race 2 4-7-6

Fiscal Policy (4) is bred to handle the turf and has the speed to get a good position from the start. Networking (7) has put a string of 5 wins together and like the top pick should be able to move that form to the grass. Musical Prodigy (6) has turf experience but has been unable to carry her speed.

  • Race 3 2-3-5

Condurre (2) has been away since being claimed off a winning effort. He is well placed today to add to his good local record. Grinning Gang (3) comes into this with a consistent form for top connections and looks the one to beat. Cane Garden Bay (5) drops in for a claiming price for the first time and has the back class to be around at the finish of this.

  • Race 4 9-7-2

Leroidessioux (9) has been working well for his first start and looks set to go from the outside post here. Saint Will (7) is a debut runner for good connections with a decent series of morning drills for this. He’s drawn well on the outside and is not ambitiously placed. Hometown Legend (2) has the experience edge over the top two and takes another drop in class fro today.

  • Race 5 2-4-8

Poliziano (2) ran evenly in his debut on the turf and is bred to handle the dirt course here. He has been working along consistently since that start and gets a good inside post to save ground. Sweat Equity (4) is a debut runner with a pedigree to handle the distance today and some morning works that suggest he is ready. Voter (8) ran fairly well over this surface a year ago and makes sense in his second try off a layoff.

  • Race 6 6-8-9

Casual Trick (6) has a royal pedigree and showed some pace in his debut at Saratoga. He shows a nice gate drill and should relish the added ground. Suns Out Guns Out (8) made up some ground in his debut and should improve in his second try and the switch in surface. Quiet Command (9) is a first time runner from a good stable with some solid morning works for today.

  • Race 7 10-4-7

Twice The Lady (10) has the speed to be in a good spot on this turf and comes into this race in the best form. Inner Groove (4) faces claiming company for the first time and factors with these on some of her prior efforts. Deputy Darling (7) has some turf form to go by and comes into this on her third start off a layoff.

  • Race 8 10-12-6

Island Bound (10) came to life last out when returning to her favorite track and need only duplicate that performance to be tough in this spot. Exhilarating (12) has been idle since a good race at this level in the spring and has worked well for her return. Extra Quick (6) took the field gate to wire when breaking her maiden last out can handle the step up to winners today.

  • Race 9 4-1-3

Halo’s Thunder (4) put in a dull effort last out on a wet track. He drops in class again and may perform better n a dry surface. Royal Gentleman (1) is in the best form of this group and does have a win over this surface. Whatthecatdrugin (3) has the speed to be effective in this race and ran well against better here in the spring.

  • Race 10 1-4-2

Get A Grip (1) ran evenly last out at this level and should really handle the added ground today for top connections. Big Top (4) returns to the turf today where he does have a win. He too is bred for the distance and has the speed to be in a good position from the start. Falling Knife (2) was a blowout winner of his latest versus lesser competition going a marathon distance. He should get a ground saving trip.

  • Race 11 5-10-4-8-6

Babu (5) just won at this level and looks capable of putting that effort back to back here. Sarkozy (10) had a troubled trip last out and will be closing late if he can work out a clean run. Good Family (4) has a good local record for this level and fits with these. Saviano (8) is inconsistent but on his better form is a factor in the exotics today. True Emotion (6) is another deep closer who can pick up the pieces today.
