Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Dangerous Dream (8) drops in class and stretches out for her second start and has worked well since that debut. Annaclone (2) will appreciate the return to dirt and the distance suits her pedigree. Bekat Bekat (4) made up ground in her debut after a rough start and should improve with the distance today.
Hero’s Empire (7) drops in class for this and is in good form. He has the speed to be in a close position throughout. Prince Teton (4) steps up in the best form of his career and runs his best at Churchill. Close To My Heart (2) went through his condition last out and fits well here.
Lambeau (2) is consistently effective at this level and has the speed to take this field all the way. Tenth Power (8) has been running well at this starter level and runs well on any surface. Pete’s Pride (1) will be running late in a race with quite a few front runners.
Beat the Blues (2) steps down from stakes company and ran her best race her when second in the Winning Colors in the spring. Starlite Starbrite (1) has been idle since finishing behind the top pick in that same race but had been able to defeat her prior to that. Hyperlink (5) could benefit from a potentially fast pace in this race and pick up the pieces late.
She’s a Sly Devil (4) ran credibly in her first start versus winners and gets the slight edge in this well matched group. Gabbie Gulch (9) steps down in class and needs to show more pace here to be effective down the stretch. Desert Sunset (1) ran well at this level in the spring and won’t be far out of it from the start.
Mahindar (1) has proven form over this course and the speed to be a factor from the rail at this level. Prospector Queen (5) is consistent and need only transfer her dirt form to the turf today. Just Memories (11) comes back on quick rest after breaking poorly versus a stronger field. She can make amends today.
Indian Council (6) has been idle since two good efforts here in the spring and returns for a claiming price for a sharp barn. Governor’s Badge (4) ran evenly in his last race and can be a factor with a repeat if that performance. Leander (8) steps up off the win where he showed good speed and fits well here.
Money Only (3) debuts with some good workouts for top connections and has the pedigree to be ready to go first out. Circus Clown (5) ran well in both his starts and has the experience edge here. Old Time Hockey (4) has been training well for his debut including a nice recent gate work.
Startling Beauty (8) is a course winner and can improve with the return to turf today.
Ride Around Sally (11) has good speed and looks well placed for the win today. Speedmonkey (12) chased the top pick last out and is better suited to the outside draw. Silver Tequila (4) has the speed to be close from the start and should last longer on the dirt track. I’m Ready (3) has run evenly in her last few tries and fits well here if she can handle the dirt. Sabre’s Silhouette (7) is a debut runner with consistent workouts.
