Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Saratoga Bound (5) debuts at the bottom level and looks fit for this off her works. Golden Meadow (4) has had many chances but has run well enough in several tries to be considered.
Truly Devoted (9) goes first off the claim for connections that do well in these scenarios. The slight turn back in distance suits her style. Kluki (5) raced evenly in her debut and can move forward off of that. Gold Love (6) is bred to improve with the added ground and the surface switch.
Tantamount (2) has been facing open claimers and tougher allowance foes. She gets the slight edge on the drop to conditioned claiming today. Sunlit (5) also exits tougher races and ran well on the dirt at Tampa in the spring. Sympathy Act (7) steps up off the claim undefeated and showed lots of fortitude in her last win.
Surf Diva (9) showed speed against better last out and can last longer with the drop in class and shorter distance. Chamakchallo (10) closed well in her effort at this level and makes sense again today off that race. Angel Love (12) finished just behind the second choice and would be no surprise here.
Shore Do (3) has proven turf form and is competitive at this level. Moonport (5) is another class dropper who has some prior turf races that fit with these.
Puddy Tap (10) made up ground in her debut in a key race. She has worked very well over the local surface. Claire’s Song (9) has been idle since her debut in April and has been working sharply in the morning for this. Accent (7) ran her best race in her only dirt track try and should be closing late today.
Tapativity (6) drops to the bottom level conditioned claimers today and gets the slight edge off that in this well matched group. Heiden (1) tired on the lead against the same field as the top pick and will be better suited to the one turn mile. R Fast Cat (8) ran evenly at this level last out and figures well with a repeat of that.
Temp (5) has been working well for his first start since March. He was competitive in some strong races in California. Depeche Chat (4) was in good form against solid fields before going to the sidelines. He too is working very well for his return today. Light Up The Score (7) did just that in a nice win on a wet track last out and will be a factor if he can repeat that effort.
Heavenly Landing (1) made her turf debut a winning one and should get a good trip from the rail today in this well matched group. She’s Picky (2) has run well in all her two turn races and handled the Polytrack last out suggesting she may like the turf. Kilmore Quay (5) has run evenly in some competitive grass events and will be running late here.
Dubious Miss (2) returned from a layoff with a good second on a wet track. He can improve off that effort today. Uncle Brent (6) is in good form and has proven a specialist at today’s distance. Pass the Dice (8) has been working well locally and has run well enough in his first three starts to be a factor here.
Flat Out (6) had to check slightly while making his run in the Breeders’ Cup Classic and still finished only 3 lengths behind the winner. There is quite a bit of speed in here and he can make amends off his best efforts today. Wise Dan (11) is very consistent and will be close to the pace today. He can get the jump on the top pick if able to conserve his energy early on. Ruler On Ice (1) is also in very good form and has worked well since his big effort in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Traci’s Thunder (3) has a good local record and comes in to this off a win. Charma Posse (2) is better than her recent form and takes a slight drop today. Kentucky Peaches (6) looks to improve with the added distance today. Leather Laces (11) and Bell of Buddha (1) round out the top five.
