Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Strategic Decision (2) has been consistent at this level and fits well here with a good trip close to the pace. Bahim (4) has put two decent efforts together now and will get a good spot just off the pace. Political Agenda (1) stretches back out in distance and can be a factor on his best form.
Sharilyn Jean (3) takes blinkers off, drops in class and looks to be the danger in here. Guile (8) puts blinkers on today after showing some interest at this level last out. Jack’s Flame (4) showed some speed versus better and may last longer with the class drop.
Grand Idol (3) showed speed in both starts and can improve in his second try off an extended layoff. Mucho Macho Uno (1) has been running evenly against slightly better competition recently and will be closing late. Barefoot Bandit (6) just missed versus a lesser group last out but figures again today.
Onepointhreekarats (2) has never run a bad race and now tries the turf, which should suit her style. Expressively (5) came to life in her second try and goes for the Mott stable, which excels with turf horses. Soot Z (9) was rained off the turf in her debut and can improve with that try and a switch back to the grass here.
Auspicious Risk (1) returned from a break with a strong effort and takes a drop down the claiming ladder today. Finding Paradise (4) ran well in his local tries and will get a perfect stalking trip today. Thunder Jack (3) goes as a first time gelding for a new stable and looks to be training sharply for this.
Summer Kitten (3) ran well in her only dirt try and now drops a class level for sharp connections. Alegra (1) just missed when trying two turns last time and can be a factor with a repeat of that. Candy Store Kid (2) has run well in both her claiming tries and will be close from the start.
Sever (2) ran evenly from the rail against open claimers and fits well in this conditioned claiming spot. No Rules Now (5) has been consistent at this level against state-bred company and is capable of being placed close if there is no pace. Ibn Shaniko (3) is the wild card here coming in from Beulah Park off back to back scores.
Hidden Heat (3) may not have handled the synthetic surface last out but is a strong factor off her prior dirt form. Parade of Homes (7) ran well here in the fall and goes for new connections that do well in this scenario. She’s Gonna Float (1A) takes blinkers off and drops back to a main track sprint, which suits her better.
Film Shot (4) has run well in a couple of strong turf races and has the speed to be in a good position here. Enduring Star (7) picks up Leparoux for his second try off a layoff and is a threat here at his best. Splendiferous (10) goes as a first time gelding off the layoff and showed solid promise last year against good company on the grass.
Riley Tucker (5) is a graded stakes winner locally and comes in off a sharp win. He can be close or rate depending on the race setup. Safe Trip (7) loses the blinkers today which might get him to relax while up close and he figures to be tough to deny on a track he likes. Isthmus (4) also shows up in sharp form and ran well in a strong race her last fall.
Bella Bandita (6) closed ground in her debut and figures to improve in her second try today. Beijoca (7) goes for new connections and puts on blinkers. Her first race was a good effort and she will be running late. Teller Terri (10) raced evenly in all three tries and has trained sharply since arriving at Churchill for top stable. Gottahaveadream (4) ran well in one turf try and gets the riding services of the Leparoux, who will likely have her well placed. Indian Miracle (8) is a well bred debut runner with a series of good works.
