Jill Byrne's Handicapping
School’s Out (5) went off favored and ran evenly against better in his debut. He can improve today. Can’t Prove It (3) is a first timer with a good pedigree and decent morning drills. Upon Reflection (2) has worked steadily for a stable that places their debut runners well.
Troika (7) had a rough trip last out and should get a better set up from the outside here. Dads Shooting Star (6) drops in class and has run well enough in a couple of starts to warrant a chance here. Quiet Nicole (5) has been away for nearly 20 months but has trained well and is not over matched today.
Toxis (1) may not have cared for the Polytrack and can make amends with a return to dirt today. Tapit Dancer (6) returns from an extended layoff with a series of steady workouts. She faced some stiff company last year and gets the edge if ready for this. Amazing Shoes (5) has improved steadily and should get a share of this.
One Last Nitemare (4) has a good local record, is in good form and is a distance specialist. Lady Durlyn (7) is another with a solid local record and now returns beneath the Twin Spires in good form. The entry, Shesadozer (1) and Princess Janelle (1A) have good speed but may be questionable at the distance.
Chilaca (5) is lightly raced and has done little wrong and may have the most upside in this group Dover Beach (1) returns to the grass today and can be a factor off his two races at this level in Gulfstream. Awesome Attack (6) had a rough trip last out and, like the top pick, ran some decent races on the turf in Florida.
Trubs (8) returns to the races on the drop in class today and is the best of these if he is ready to go. Delauney (1) handles any surface and has been in good form all year. Maximus Ruler (5) has faced some tough company and will be a factor if he returns to his form from the fall meet.
Roman Sur (1) faced a stronger group last out and should get a more favorable pace today. Yo Coltrane (6) is consistent at this bottom level and would improve if the track is muddy. Alberta’s Book (4) returns from a long break without the blinkers and for the lowest price he has seen in some time.
Honey Chile (10) ran very well in a turf sprint in Florida and can be a factor on her best efforts. Wild About Marie (1) has excellent turf sprinting form but might be compromised by the rail draw. Extravaganza (7) faltered against a strong field last out after pushing fast fractions and may not have to go as fast early today.
Sky Tryst (7) can improve in her second start. She has worked well for new trainer Bill Mott and draws well to the outside. Fun and Gains (2) had a troubled trip in her debut and has also trained well since that. Yankee Union (5) shows two even efforts on the Polytrack and has a pedigree for the dirt surface.
Paoli (8) is trying turf for the first time but has the pedigree to handle the surface switch and the speed to get a clean trip. Lady Haddassah (2) has run well in all her turf tries at this level and should get a good stalking spot. Brew Blessings (6) ran well on the turf this winter and could be the leader from gate to wire. Chamakchallo (4) and Island Prayer (10) have proven turf form as well and figure in the top five.
