Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Unknown Gem (3) makes his debut for a sharp team and has consistent works. Ready Set Whoa (1A) has speed and experience and returns to a claiming price. Sunshine Warrior (6) is another first time starter with a series of steady morning drills.
Lady Charlie (1) and Kit Kat’s Luck (1A) are a strong entry with a good profile. Gorgeous Melody (2) drops sharply in class and looks like the best threat to the top choices. Extra Quick (6) steps up in good form and has speed to be close.
Homerun Bertie (2) has improved greatly since switching to the turf and now steps up again off the claim for a top barn. City Cool (1) ran well in both local grass tries and improves with the return to that surface. Tangled Sheets (5) will be rolling late and has good turf form.
Barefoot Bandit (6) raced evenly versus a better field last out and looks strong in this spot. Harper County (7) just missed in a quick race and fits well here. Shootdeworx (3) finished well in his first try against winners and looks good here.
Voodoo’s Vision (3) turns back sharply in distance and faces weaker company and looks like a standout here. Miss Ziggy (5) has a good local record and will be running on late. This Time (4) has the best speed and has been competitive at this level.
Rip Roarin Ritchie (8) ran well in his debut after a rough trip and is bred to handle the turf. Yo Blue (10) has been training well and also has nice turf breeding. Desert Strike (5) and Ride Me High (3) debut for a top juvenile barn.
Diamond D’Oro (8) drops another level and gets the slight edge here. Snow Trillium (2) debuts with sharp workouts for a good barn. Venus De Milo (7) can improve in her second try in 11 months.
Glamour Galore (6) was a hard fought winner of her debut and has trained well since. Zaharias (2) exits a second in a key race and should handle the extra distance here. Trupeg (8) ran a big race last out and looks capable of the step up here.
Newstouse (3) drops in class today and has the speed to be dangerous on the lead. Slander (8) has decent turf form and is well placed today. Jones Zing (7) also has good turf form and now drops a level looking to break this condition.
Refugio (4) has been facing some tough company and looks to have found a spot to finally get the win here. Lobshot (2) ran well last out in a quick race and once again looks strong here. Hot Roots (7) has worked well since some poor efforts and is better than she has shown lately.
Model’s Memo (8) returns from a freshening to the course she has performed the best over. Yallah Leah (3) has been running well and fits well with these. Pish Posh (7) finished well against a stronger starter group and will be closing late. Embellished Gold (6) and Eddikins (4) round out the top five.
