Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Autumn Eyes (1) has a good local record and now drops in class looking for the score. Needadrink (6) has run well at Churchill and is well spotted today. Galloping Domino (2) has speed to be dangerous at this level.
Gentle Tap (5) is in good form and can handle the step up to open claiming company here. Garryowen (2) has an affinity for the local surface and is well placed here. Chef Eric (3) was overmatched in his last two tries but can make amends at this level.
Tap and Trade (6) has been working well for his debut and has a good win early pedigree. Southern Blast (8) had a tough trip in his debut and finished well. He can improve off that. Show Some Magic (2) exits a rough trip as well in a quickly run key race.
Awesome Attack (7) had a troubled trip and finished well last out. With better racing luck and added ground today he is a strong factor. Mesonic (2) moved forward last time and is capable of being in the mix off his best. Network News (8) has a good turf pedigree for a top barn.
Storm Cloud Coming (6) drops another level and had a wide trip last out. Piton (2) has worked well since being eased in her last start. Princess Mia (8) turns back in distance off two poor recent tries.
Summer Kitten (4) is better suited back at two turns here and for lesser competition. Kiss and Peck (8) has found her level and will be close if the top pick falters. Serious Stuff (3) has the most upside as the lightest raced entry and looks strong here.
Castlepost (9) has been close in is last two and now drops one more level. Four Million (2) is well placed here and looks like a strong factor. Afleet Triumph (4) had a terrible trip last out and still finished well at these conditions.
Twinspired (1) has been consistently on the board since returning to the turf and looks to get a perfect setup today. Versailles Road (6) is steady and can usually be counted on to be close at the finish. Pleasant Run (3) makes his third start off a layoff and is one for one on this course.
Professor Fate (5) was an easy winner in a quickly run race last out and has only run one poor race in his career, which came over a synthetic surface. Johannesbourbon (3) has run some big efforts on synthetic tracks and need only transfer that form to the dirt course to be effective here. Unbridled’s Note (2) returns to a sprint and allowance company after failed attempts on the Derby trail.
Dark Nebula (6) is in good form and should improve with the switch to turf. Love Spun (4) has trained well for her debut and has a good grass pedigree. Soot Z (7) improved when trying these conditions last out. Vuitoon (2) and Thermal Nermal (8) round out the top five.
