Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Race 1 – Molly Morgan (3) has shown flashes of talent and gets the slight edge in well matched field. Cheechako (4) faltered when facing winners first time at Belmont but can rebound here. Refugio (5) is consistent but likes to finish in the exacta spot.
Race 2 – Just Like Juliet (6) drops in class and always runs well on the dirt surface. Miss Bellamy Lane (8) surprised at huge odds last out and a repeat of that effort gives her a solid chance here. Mary Kate (7) has done her best running on the turf but can land a share of this.
Race 3 – Muchacha Macho (3) can improve with the experience of a race and the drop in class. Tipthetrolleygirl (10) had a troubled trip on the turf in her debut and fits well with these. Hard Secret (4) has good speed and is a top contender today. Canterra (12) and Cash Cow (13) round out the Super HI 5.
Race 4 – Quick Praise (3) put in two dull races off the layoff but ran well locally and fits well with this level. Star Passage (2) drops in class today and has been solid in her turf efforts versus slightly better. Walker Bay (5) is the only Matt Win turf winner and figures prominently today.
Race 5- Delaunay (3) is undefeated locally including a stakes win and looks capable of improving that record today. Laurie's Rocket (5) has been chasing top sprinters and has run well locally for the in form Lukas stable. Golden Country (7) runs well fresh and picks up leading rider Lanerie today.
Race 6 – Rio Strikes Gold (6) was in good form at the end of the spring meet and looks strong off the break here. Statesboro Blues (1) was overmatched and outrun recently but looks capable of a good effort with these. Royal Tak (9) is a class dropper with better dirt form and a good local workout.
Race 7 – Heat Press (11) faded when trying two turns for the first time and can move forward off that effort. Frac Daddy (12) ran well in his debut and with the logical improvement will be a contender here. Moon Back More (1) should also take a big step forward in his second start.
Race 8 – Set the Sail (2) has been consistent in all his turf tries and has a perfect running style for today’s race. Benergy (6) was dull off a year layoff but has a fondness for the local grass and should improve here. Badleroibrown (11) exits the same quickly run race last out and just missed over this course.
Race 9 – The G-2 Chilukki attracts a very deep field today. Salty Strike (11) is in good form and runs her best races beneath the Twin Spires. She looks to get a perfect stalking trip from the outside. Joyful Victory (2) has faced very strong fields competitively and is set for a big effort today. Spectacular Sky (10) ships in from Calder off three consecutive wins in gate to wire fashion. She looks to stretch that speed another furlong .
Race 10 – Mr. Realistic (10) runs well locally and will be rolling late in a race with some speed. Saviano (3) is inconsistent but fits well here on his best. Citizen John (4) should be close to the pace and be tough to run down late. Where’s The Beef (6) and Well Respected Man (7) must be used in the Super HI 5.
