Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Race 1 – One Last Nightmare (2) loves it at Churchill and has been consistent in these starter races. Brezing Rain (3) drops in class today and fits well here. True (6) never runs a bad race and has speed to be well placed throughout.
Race 2 – C P Hath A Way (10) ran well versus better locally before and should be close from the start. Psycho Chick (9) has been facing stronger fields and is a danger on the class drop today. Horsche (7) has good speed and usually lands a part of the exotics.
- Race 3
Race 4 – Major Marvel (5) has a solid local record and good early pace and exits a fairly strong field. Formaggio (4) is perfect on the Matt Win course and makes his third start off a layoff. He has speed to be in a good stalking position. Final Count (2) adds to the local course lovers here and will be running late in a race with plenty of early foot.
Race 5- Picky Picky (5) returns to the main track and drops in class in a wide open race. Flashaholic (7) is consistent which may be good enough to break through for the win today. Courtroom Drama (9) will be picking up the pieces late.
Race 6 – Wildcat Nation (10) has a local victory and faces the weakest competition he has seen, giving him an edge today. High Stakes (12) has a similar profile to the top pick and looks like a danger with good speed from the outside. Variant (1) is in great form and has the speed to get away from the inside post quickly.
Race 7 – Smart and Suave (10) has been consistent at this level and draws a better post for today. Mycitytip (12) takes blinkers off and attracts Lanerie and will be in a good stalking trip. Dixie Carol (9) has good speed and gets in with a light weight with the apprentice rider aboard.
Race 8 – Heart Stealer (7) comes in from Belmont with a strong debut effort and looks tough to go by here. Temptress (4) debuts for a strong stable and has a pedigree to be ready first out. Gigglin’ Gal (10) ran evenly in her debut and then may not have cared for the polytrack or in the inside draw last out and factors in with these.
Race 9 – Sachem Spirit (1) has performed well in all his turf efforts and should have no problem with the local course. He has speed and will get a good trip from the rail. Code Of Conduct (8) also has a solid turf record and will be stalking the top choice closely. Positive Side (2) came off the bench with a hard fought victory and needs another strong pace set up for his closing style.
Race 10 – Coffee Boy (11) drops in class for a sharp barn and has always run well at Churchill. Gruenewald (1) has the best local record and is the back class of this group. He will be rolling late from the rail. Hero’s Empire (12) has been evenly against slightly better competition. Larry’s Vision (6) and Roman Along (8) fill out the Super High 5.
