Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Race 1 – Tiz Yankee (3) has had many chances but has run well in the majority of those and may have found the best spot to break through with a win. Artistic Design (5) adds blinkers, shows a sharp workout, and tries dirt for the first time which should all be factors for improvement. Downtown Ghost (6) ran evenly in a pair of local starts and can land a share of this.
Race 2 – Valerius (5) is a course specialist and drops in class for top connections. Lightning Road (9) steps up today in his second start off a layoff and looks capable of a big effort. D’Wildcard (6) has been off form of late but does seem to run best on the main track here.
Race 3 – Suyeta (7) returns from over a year layoff for a bottom level today and looks set to go. Steve’s Big Moe (9) is consistent and has the edge in fitness. Sir Jock (4) is in sharp form and will be close throughout. Dr. Jajo (10) and Scored (14) round out the Super High 5.
Race 4 – Ocean Bertie (8) has been close in all her efforts and gets the slight edge in this well matched group. Battle Bridge (2) ran her best race on the main track here and figures to be running late. Colonial Empress (4) has run well against better company and goes for a barn in good form.
Race 5- Dynamic Knight (8) returns from a break in a perfect spot and looks best of these. Il Mostro (2) was outrun in his first try off a layoff and is better suited to the distance today. Portman (9) ran evenly in his first race against winners and can be a factor in this spot.
Race 6 – Midas Dancer (2) has never run a poor effort and has the pace advantage to be in a good position from the start.
Race 7 – Fevernthefunkhouse (11) ran well in his debut on the polytrack and has been working very well under the Twin Spires. Beeliner (5) has trained sharply for his debut for a top stable. Egyptian Warrior (2) debuts with a series of solid morning drills and a precocious pedigree.
Race 8 – Hardtap (1) was impressive in his debut in the spring. He has worked well for his return but will have to overcome the inside draw today. Seven Lively Sins (6) goes back to the main track today and looks to be training well for a barn that is in good form. Majestic Man (2) returns from a year layoff and will be closing late.
- Race 9 10-8-6
Race 10 – Upon Reflection (12) showed speed in his debut and has trained well for his return for leading connections here. Momentum Investor (10) goes first off the claim for a sharp team and need only transfer his turf form to the main track. Beau Fortune (3) will be picking up the pieces late in a race with plenty of early zip. Lead (7) and (16) complete the Super Hi 5.
