Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Race 1 – Lady Durlyn (8) is consistent and has a solid local record. She should get the perfect stalking trip. Katy Lied (1) has also had a very good year and fits well with these. Alberta’s Book (4) exits a win but may do her best running on other surfaces.
Race 2 – Incredibly Smart (6) returned from a layoff with two solid wins and need only transfer that form to the turf today. Go Blue or Go Home (3) puts blinkers on, turns back in distance and has proven grass form for a dangerous barn. Lake Victor (1) has worked well for his return to the races. He has turf pedigree and good speed.
Race 3 – Bo’s Shepard (5) has been training sharply for his debut and catches a soft spot today. Pulp (8) and Prospector Deputy (11) finished on even turns last out and both figure to be a factor with their experience. D Shirt Maker (6) and Channel Changer (9) figure prominently as well
Race 4 – Sound Effect (6) ran well on the dirt as a juvenile and looks to get a perfect stalking trip today in a well matched group. Fleurdefortyfour (7) is in good form and has solid outside speed. Fair Dinkum (2) ran well locally and is a strong factor under Lanerie.
Race 5 – Seatopen Memo (3) broke poorly and then had a wide trip against a stronger field. He can make amends today with a better trip. Left First (5) showed better pace last out and a repeat of that performance puts him in the mix today.
Race 6 – I’m Already Sexy (7) looked good breaking her maiden and has a strong turf pedigree in another wide open race. Miss Clark County (10) debuted with a flashy win and like the top pick has a top turf family. Noun (8) already has the proven turf form and will benefit from a potential solid early pace.
Race 7 – Ghost Is Clear (4) returned from a payoff with a win and then has been overmatched since. He gets a slight edge in a competitive field on the class drop. Stormin Bud (2) has good speed and some back class that would make him a factor with these. Scored (8) is a bit inconsistent but could be effective from his outside post here.
Race 8 – Beautiful Miss (7) faltered as the favorite when unable to overcome a troubled trip. She has a pedigree to improve with the switch to dirt and now has some race experience. Princess Mariah (2) and Indian Spell (1) are two beautifully bred newcomers with good morning works from top stables.
Race 9 – Halloween Party (10) has a solid turf record and catches a race with a potentially good pace setup. Globe Trot (5) has only tried the turf once and has shown glimpses of talent on the synthetic. She gets another try today and has a pedigree to move forward on the grass. Soft Whisper (8) is dangerous when allowed to cruise on the lead and can steal this with no pressure early.
Race 10 – Merv (2) ran evenly in a quickly run race against better. He looks to be training well for his return. Restitution (1) adds blinkers and drops sharply in class for his first start in over a year. He too is working well for today. Penny’s Deputy (4) has a precocious pedigree and a series of solid workouts for his debut. Fort Boonesborough (9) willl have an impact in the Super High 5.
