Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Race 1 – Spoof (4) is very consistent and that may be good enough to get by this field. Illegally Blonde (3) drops into a claiming race for the first time after facing stiff company. Renegade Band (5) has run her best races on synthetic surfaces but catches a weak group here.
Race 2 – Joe Six Pack (5) appears to be a standout in this bottom level claimer and can stalk the early pace under Borel. Gentle Moment (9) drops in class off the claim and figures to be a factor today. Cabe (8) ran well at this level when last seen at Churchill.
Race 3 – Sweet Gator Girl (9) debuts for a sharp stable with some decent morning drills. Scealeile (7) showed speed in her debut versus better and has trained well for this. Little Face (11) has a steady series of workouts for her debut. Carolina Cruisin’ (12) and Picture Me Mad (4) look strong in the Super High 5.
Race 5- Dream Pegasus (3) showed a bit of life in her last start and may be rounding back to form for today. Comanche Princess (8) has done all her running on synthetic but has a pedigree and running style to suggest she can move forward on the dirt course. Platinum Blue (2) comes in to this race off a sharp win and would be no surprise.
Race 6 – Queen of the Nile (10) drops another class level today and shows some good main track form from Tampa. Voodoo’s Vision (12) will be a danger to take this field gate to wire and has had a solid year. Drivingmitziandmax (3) is consistent and runs her best races locally.
Race 8 – Finn’s Quest (11) raced evenly with a wide trip in a quickly run debut effort. Short Story Long (10) had a rough trip from the rail in his first start. He draws better today and now has experience on his side. Our Double Play (5) was forced on the pace from the inside post in his debut and may fair better in his second try.
Race 10 – Maiden Warrior (6) ran well on the turf last out and can be a factor here if she transfers that effort to the dirt. Love On Line (7) ran well versus tougher fields and figures a top contender here. Love Numbers (9) ran well at this level before going to the sidelines and should be ready to go for a strong barn. Gravitate (3) and Highway Girl (10) fit well in the Super Hi 5.
