Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Race 1 – Starter (9) returns to the dirt course and drops in class for a barn that is in top form. Rhetorical (6) has been idle for over a year but is training well and looks set for today. Diori (8) made up ground in his debut and can improve here.
Race 2 – O’Prado Again (2) returned from a long absence with an even effort in the G-2 Indiana Derby. He can move forward off that effort and looks solid at short odds. Meowser (1) could not overcome a rough start last out but is a danger on or near the lead. Scotus (6) has been off form of late but seems to do his best running locally.
- Race 3 10-1-13-11-2
Race 4 – Miss Lucky Sevens (1) was unlucky in her last start and figures as a strong presence if she can work out a trip. She has actually crossed the wire first in a race which may give her an edge. Bold Kitten (8) has a strong turf pedigree and the pace to be in a good spot throughout. Dido (2) improved in her grass debut and fits well here.
Race 5- The Elevator (2) drops in class for a sharp barn and figures prominently from the start. Heir Joe (8) steps up today and can be a factor from off the pace. Cielo Classic (1) returned to the races from an extended layoff in great form and handles any surface.
Race 6 – Pure Value (1) faced stiffer company last out and looks a tepid choice in this wide open conditioned claimer. Party Vow (11) hasn’t shown much on the dirt against better fields but fits well with these. Limehouse Leza (6) is lightly raced and would be no surprise in this group.
Race 7- Vuitton (3) has a win on this course and looks set for a big effort today. She’s Ready Made (5) was overmatched last out and has a pedigree to improve on the turf.
Race 8 – Relinquere (7) could not compete with strong open claimers last out and looks tough to go by on the drop today. Conservative Value (8) ran well locally versus better and fits well off that form. Highlight (2) makes his third start off a layoff and takes a much needed class drop here.
Race 9 – The G-3 Cardinal Handicap attracts a well matched group of turf runners with the slight edge going to Bizzy Caroline (1). She has the best local record and exits a good effort behind BC F&M Turf winner Zagora. Julie’s Love (9) steps up in class today but has shown all but one good effort since coming stateside. Daisy Devine (4) is a G-1 winner who likes to run free on the lead and is dangerous if left uncontested.
Race 10 – Paoli Princess (7) returned from a break with a good effort and now drops another level and looks solid here. Loaded Lady (9) exits a big win versus weaker but fits well with these. Lilleandra (12) also drops sharply and has a good effort locally. Jardenia (10) and Cha Ching Jackpot (4) fit well in the Super Hi 5.
