Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Race 1 – Go Daddy Girl (4) faltered badly on the polytrack last out but can make amends on the drop in class and return to dirt. The Cat’s Mine (6) is a stablemate of the top pick and looks capable of the step up to winners today. Lucky Mary G. (2) is another recent winner with speed.
Race 2 – Another Gear (6) drops in class and tries the dirt which should make him a factor with these. Government Road (9) stretches back out in distance and looks competitive here. Crafty Macho (7) steps up off his best effort last out.
Race 3 – Lily Hannah (10) cruised at similar conditions and looks capable of a repeat. Kitten’s House (7) is consistent and can be a factor with these. Moon (3) and Moon Dancing (6) should be used in the Super Hi 5.
Race 4 – Eight Shooters (7) drops in class and stretches back out in distance making him competitive today. Gladhander (4) tries two turns for the first time and should be a pace factor. Prince Stevie (3) faded last out but may last longer against a weaker field today.
Race 5- Charlies Swell (4) exits a key race and ran his best effort here at these conditions. Savage Vow (5) steps up in good form and has the best local form. Au Moon (9) returns from a long layoff at the lowest level he has faced and would be no surprise if ready to go today.
Race 6 – Fanfare (3) has two good efforts sprinting and has a pedigree to improve with the distance and switch to dirt today. Kimberly Jean (9) just missed on the turf last out but should run just as well on the main track. Honor Bright (6) had a rough trip last out and will be a factor from closer to the pace in this very competitive group.
Race 7- The G-3 Commonwealth Turf draws a deep field of runners. Lea (6) is lightly raced and looks to be improving. He should get a perfect stalking trip in a race loaded with pace. King David (11) upset the G-1 Jamaica last out and like the top pick should find himself in the garden spot. Film Shot (1) has a win on the local turf and should save ground from his rail post.
Race 8 – Tritap (7) faded in the G-2 Indiana Derby behind next out winner Neck ‘N Neck. He has the speed to be a factor from the start and owns a local win. Suns Out Guns Out (6) has been competitive against strong fields as well and has trained well recently. Shun (2) tries the dirt for the first time and should move forward today.
Race 9 – A contentious group lines up for the G-2 Mrs. Revere. Centre Court (7) is undefeated on the Matt Winn course and has a perfect running style for this field. She exits a solid second in the G-1 QE2. Somali Lemonade (4) was not far behind the top pick in the same race after encountering traffic trouble. Miz Ida (11) is on a win streak, has a win on the local turf, and gets a positive pace setup today.
Race 10 – Golden Gulch (2) has a solid local record and can rebound from a poor effort last out. Worldly (7) returns from a layoff with a long series of good works and has run well fresh over this track. Agent Di Nozzo (1) is in good form and shows a sharp recent morning drill for this.
Race 11- Scariff Island (9) has a good local record and is in good form. Wheaton’s Express (6) exits tougher starter company and has the speed to be a factor. Gold Bells Spin (8) had a rough trip when a good third at this level. Distorted Dave (4) look competitive in the Super Hi 5.
