Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Race 1 – Congenial (7) makes his third try off the layoff and first for a claiming price for top connections. Cape Glory (5) has some solid tries and like the top pick now drops into a claiming race making him a factor. Flashy Sunrise (1) is another first time claiming runner with some competitive efforts.
Race 2 – Miami Ice (7) will try 2 miles for the first time but has some solid tries at marathon distances and gets the edge here. Ellio (2) has a good local record and looks like the biggest threat. Where’s The Beef (1) has the speed to get loose in this field under Borel.
Race 3 – Neon Moon (11) has three good efforts against better and gets the nod on the class drop here. Mandate’s Beauty (4) has speed that could help her overcome traffic today. Truly Majestic (8) looks better suited to the dirt course today. Wine Angel (2) and Up For Grabs (5) fit well in the Super Hi 5.
Race 4 – Rule (2) and Colizeo (7) invade the Downs for the Pletcher barn with solid credentials and look to have the back class in this spot. The McGee barn counterattacks with Majestic Harbor (5) and Infrattini (1) who enter this race in good current form and solid local records.
Race 5- Golden Causeway (9) drops in class off some poor races but can be a factor off his prior local races where he ran well versus better. B L’s Tsumani (6) is the best of the pace in here and can be tough to catch on the front. Break Up The Game (1) faltered off the claim but fits well here.
Race 6 – Bargain Blitz (4) makes her second try off the layoff and can be tough today back on the turf. Miss Plimsoll (2) will improve in her second try for a barn that excels with turf runners. Bellazzeria (5) ran well on the polytrack suggesting she may handle the grass course too.
Race 7- Ginny’s Grey (9) drops in class today and will be competitive if she can transfer her form to the dirt. Sweet Gator Girl (6) had a tough trip in her debut and should move forward off that for a new barn today. Casket Model (5) raced evenly at this level and has worked well.
Race 8 – Hot Roots (4) was pressured from the rail and overcame that battle to prevail last out and can get a more favorable trip today. Flashy Lassie (2) chased an easy winner in a strong race and is a stakes winner over the local strip. Pica Slew (5) returns to the races for a new barn and has the back class to be a factor if ready today.
Race 9 – C P Hath A Way (8) made a middle move and flattened out recently and may be better suited to the one turn mile. Annaclone (11) ran well at this level last out and figures strong if she repeats that effort. Bellamy’s Rose (10) has been close at this level and should land a share today.
Race 10 – Kris Royal (1) exits a strong race where he finished well and looks to get a good pace setup here. Gaelico (5) will be part of the speed and finished on even terms with the top pick last out. Ivanho (9) has some decent efforts at this level and will be in a good stalking spot.
Race 11- The G-2 Falls City draws a compact well matched group. Afleeting Lady (7) just missed in this race last year, has a good record on the track, and is in good form. Arena Elvira (2) loos to defend her title and can move forward in her second start off a layoff. Brushed By A Star (6) and Joyful Victory (1) were heads apart in the local prep for this and add to the depth here.
Race 12- Gruenewald (5) just missed last out and draws a better post for today. Sir Jock (1) is speedy and consistent at this level. Roman Along (6) ran evenly while stepping up to open claimers and figures well off that race. Hometown Legend (7) and Jersey Devil (10) fit in the Super Hi 5.
