Jill Byrne's Handicapping

  • Race 1 2-6-1

Race 1 – Revelationist (2) adds blinkers which may keep him closer to the pace. Tates Humor (6) tries dirt off his best effort behind a next out winner. Broken Key (1) also puts blinkers on and may improve in his second try going two turns.

  • Race 2 7-4-2

Race 2 – Cheery (7) steps up in great form and draws well on the outside. Salty Strike (4) faded against a tough group and can rebound here. Zermatt (2) returns to the dirt and will be rolling late.

  • Race 3 4-6-10-2-5

Race 3 – Pavati (4) drops sharply in class and returns to the dirt where she did her best running. Erzulie Dantor (6) has been consistent since a short break and looks strong today. Sethna (10) has trained very well for her debut and catches a weak field. Bye Love You (2) and Tola (5) look competitive in the Super Hi 5.

  • Race 4 6-7-3

Race 4 – Flashpoint (6) goes for a new barn and makes his first start in over a year. He has the back class and has trained well to be ready for this. Laurie’s Rocket (7) has been running well against top sprint company and is the top threat here. Zeb (3) has done his best running on turf and synthetic surfaces but is a factor on his form.

  • Race 5 7-3-9

Race 5- Tweedy (7) makes her second try off the layoff and returns to the turf where she seems better suited. Sunshineandsilence (3) steps up off the claim for a sharp team and will be closing down the lane. Donna Getyourgun (9) does her best running sprinting over the Matt Winn turf.

  • Race 6 2-10-4

Race 6 – Heir Joe (2) takes a sharp drop for a team that consistently makes this move with success. Dr. Jajo (10) made up ground at this level last out and fits here with a repeat of that. Temp (4) is in good form for this level and has a local win.

  • Race 7 6-3-5

Race 7- Afleet Secret (6) comes in off a good effort and can be a factor if he follows that effort up. Governor’s Badge (3) stepped up with a big win against conditioned claimers and a repeat of that makes him a threat. Kid Galahad (5) ran well enough on the dirt to fit well with these.

  • Race 8 11-6-10

Race 8 – Do You Like Money (11) looks to be the only speed in this field and with the class drop may take this group start to finish. Avenue B (6) drops sharply in his second start off the layoff and can improve here. Chant My Name (10) returned from a long break with an even effort and can make a move forward today.

  • Race 9 10-2-11

Race 9 – Royal Rhiannon (10) has run well in all starts and looks best today with any effort close to her prior form. Delightful Magic (2) returns to the races with some good works and was facing strong fields before going to the sidelines.

  • Race 10 3-10-7

Race 10 – Exothermic (3) has been solid in all three turf starts and looks set for a big effort today. Positive Side (10) flattened out after making a strong middle move and can be a factor with a similar effort. Villandry (7) drew off against a softer field on polytrack but shows some good turf form.

  • Race 11 9-6-3-10

Race 11- The G-1 Clark Handicap presented by Norton Healthcare draws a strong field of contenders. Mission Impazible (9) makes his second start off a break and his return to Churchill where has run two of his best races in defeat including a second behind Wise Dan in last year’s Clark. Take Charge Indy (6) also runs for the second time off a payoff and can move forward off his last race. He has trained sharply for the return to dirt today. Shackleford (3) will retire following this race and certainly is the class and course specialist here. Lunar Victory (10) is consistent and has a good running style.

  • Race 12 12-9-4-1-10

Race 12- Kruthen (12) made up ground in his debut and should move forward off that. Night Seeker (9) always runs well and has to be used in the exotics. Starter (4) has some good efforts and fits well here off those. Amber Road (1) and Ride The Lightning (10) fit in the Super Hi 5.
