Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Miss Ziggy (6) is in good form and has shown an affinity for Churchill. Guilded Reward (5) is stepping down slightly in class and fits well here with the blinkers off angle. Added Delight (2) is consistent but has yet to shown she can handle the local surface.
Jardenia (6) is on a win streak, performs well at Churchill and will get a good pace setup. With Excellence (1) makes her first start of 2013 for good connections and was a two time winner here in the fall. Admired (3) has good speed and could be a factor if left alone early.
Big Flirt (3) is in good form and is well placed today for a top barn. Princini (5) drops in class and figures on his best but is hard to gauge. Cold Feet (1) shows consecutive wins against lesser company.
– Seve (2) returned from a long layoff with a solid effort and can move forward off of that. Cold Facts (6) had a rough trip last out and finished well. He gets plenty of early pace to set up well for his style today. Southpaw Slammer (4) steps up off the claim and can improve in his third try off the layoff.
Ginny’s Grey (7) has been knocking at the door and now takes another slight drop giving her the slight edge today. Elusive Act (6) has been facing better company and running evenly. The drop to claiming company may help get her home first. Xena’s Arrow (2) is a debut runner for a sharp stable.
– Flores Island (8) ran her best race on the grass and the return to turf today points her out in a well matched field. Balansense (2) improved when trying turf last out and will get a ground saving trip here. Abbey Street (10) has been close in all her turf tries and will be rolling late under Rosie.
Arbiter (4) takes a needed drop in class and gets a better post draw today making him tough to go against. Big Ring (6) is another on the way down the claiming ladder and has the advantage of a win locally. Canadian Boss (1) steps up in class but is in good form.
Cool Street (4) faltered in the very strong New Orleans Handicap last out but his prior efforts give him the slight nod in a well matched field. Taptowne (6) will likely try to steal this race on the front and is dangerous when left alone. Golden Gulch (7) returns from a layoff but has the best local record and will be tough if ready to go here.
Trophy Wife (9) has been idle since October but looks to be training well for her return. She showed good form on the turf last year and fits well here. Valiant Edge (3) has run well in all three starts stateside and should get a good pace set up. Twirl (1) exits two strong efforts at marathon distances and will need to get running earlier today.
Golf Pro (9) drops another level off a decent debut effort and looks tough to go against for a strong team. Dapper Dude (3) has shown little in three tries but may be more effective under today’s conditions. Bo’s Shepard (4) steps up today and will need to transfer his polytrack form to dirt to fit here.
