Jill Byrne's Handicapping

  • Race 1 6-1-3

Darkest Hour (6) is one for one at Churchill and returns for a sharp barn in good form. With Excellence (1) has a good local record and just missed off the layoff last out. All By Chance (3) drops slightly in class and should get a share of this. JILL’S SELECTIONS – 6-1-3

  • Race 2 4-6-1

Said (4) was an easy maiden winner against a weak field but seems to fit well off that effort in this spot. Before You Know It (6) is training well and stretches back out in distance for this. Scealeile (1) exits an impressive win and is nicely placed here. JILL’S SELECTIONS – 4-6-1

  • Race 3 2-5-4

De Price (2) returns to the main track where he has had success and gets a good pace set up n this well matched group. Grand Sensation (5) drops in class and was a back to back winner when last facing this level. Okie Tuff (4) is capable of better for a sharp stable.

  • Race 4 1-7-8

Overthehump (1) drops sharply in class and looks best for connections that place their horses well. Cold Feet (7) is in good form and has a solid pace angle. Wakes Week (8) is consistent and should land a share of this race.

  • Race 5 10-5-7

There’s Two (10) had a rough trip in his debut and can improve with that effort and the drop in class. Wambri (5) has had a lot of chances but always run well and must be considered. Rapid Ranger (7) need only transfer his polytrack form to dirt to fit here.

  • Race 6 9-5-1

Set The Sail (9) returned from a layoff with a sharp win and ran well last year against some solid fields. Perregaux (5) has had two solid sprint efforts off an extended layoff and can be a factor with a similar effort. Finnegan’s Wake (1) makes his 2013 debut and will be rolling late. He had strong form last year. JILL’S SELECTIONS – 9-5-1

  • Race 7 1-5-7

Emmy Rules (1) ran well off the layoff and can improve off that effort. Quixote’s Lady (5) is well placed here and can pressure the top pick from the outside draw. Northern Borealis (7) puts blinkers on and returns to the claiming ranks. JILL’S SELECTIONS – 1-5-7

  • Race 8 7-4-1

Pistolera (7) drops in class and is better suited to traditional dirt courses. Give Her Space (4) finished well after a poor break and is a logical threat. Delilahjane (1) faltered badly in her last start but looks like a factor off her debut.

  • Race 9 5-8-10

Qushchi (5) has been in good form since her stateside debut and gets the edge in here off her solid form. Treasured Up (8) steps up in distance and can move forward in her third start off a break. Preferential (10) should improve in her second start of the year for a top turf stable. JILL’S SELECTIONS- 5-8-10

  • Race 10 3-4-2

Interest Free (3) has two excellent races on two surfaces and has worked well for her first local start. Super Divine (4) may not have cared for the polytrack last out and can rebound here. Trail Walker (2) is also consistent and may handle the step up to winners today.

  • Race 11 2-4-3-7-1

Formidable Heart (2) ran well in his debut and looks to improve off that start. Professor Midnight (4) stepped up in his first start off a break and can taken another move forward today. Layton Register (3) finished just behind the top pick last out and is a strong factor today. Call Me Kitten (7) and Timeless Indy (1) look strong in the top five.
