Jill Byrne's Handicapping

  • Race 1 5-1-3

Admired (5) looks to prefer the return to the main track here and fits well with these. With Excellence (1) finished behind the top pick recently and comes back on short rest. Added Delight (3) is consistent and a winner at this condition. JILL’S SELECTIONS –5-1-3

  • Race 2 6-2-5

Brazen Persuasion (6) has worked well since her first start and gets a favorable post. Whomping Willow (2) was no match for the winner in her debut but can move forward here. Jojo’s Gal (5) has trained well for a top juvenile stable. JILL’S SELECTIONS – 6-2-5

  • Race 3 2-4-6

Flashpoint (2) has worked well since his return to Churchill and looks set for a strong effort. Laurie’s Rocket (4) steps down from some tough races and fits here. Good Lord (6) is steady and consistent and gets a good setup from his outside draw. JILL’S SELECTIONS – 2-4-6

  • Race 4 4-1-7

Gamay Noir (4) exits a tough race at this level and may prefer a dry track. Elusive Fate (1) returns to the dirt today off a nice victory. Fiscal Fitness (7) steps up in class in good form. JILL’S SELECTIONS – 4-1-7

  • Race 5 2-10-7

Stanley Cup (2) drops another level off two good tries. Noble Abode (10) debuts for the bottom price for a sharp barn. Song Ahead (7) shows some solid races at this level. JILL’S SELECTIONS –2-10-7

  • Race 6 11-9-1

Cozzetti (11) may have needed his first start of the year and has worked sharply since that effort. Bell By The Ridge (9) is in sharp form and can benefit from a better trip. Z Dager (1) always runs his race and can’t be ignored. JILL’S SELECTIONS – 11-9-1

  • Race 7 6-7-3-5

D’Cajun Cat (6) was an easy winner of his debut and with any improvement he gets the edge in this well matched G-3 Bashford Manor. Sandbar (7) was placed first in his debut and has worked well since then. Hollywood Talent (3) has a huge win at Keeneland and need only transfer that race to dirt to be effective. Runkle (5) is solid here. JILL’S SELECTIONS – 6-7-3-5

  • Race 8 8-5-12

Barham (9) goes first off the claim for a top team and gets a slight edge in this well matched field. Ammaroo (5) drops sharply and has a bullet workout for this. JILL’S SELECTIONS- 8-5-12

  • Race 9 2-4-6

The G-2 Firecracker attracts reigning Horse Of The Year Wise Dan (2) who appears to tower over this field. He handles any turf condition and can be placed anywhere with his adaptable running style. Lea (4) returned from a layoff with an easy victory and is a lightly raced colt with a big future. Daddy Nose Best (6) has back turf class and is training well for this acid test. JILL’S SELECTIONS- 2-4-6

  • Race 10 7-6-5

Charlie’s Phantasy (7) comes back on short rest and drops in class off an even effort. Sir Jock (6) tends to settle for the minor awards but is always in the mix at this level. Surf Cast (5) is in good form. JILL’S SELECTIONS-7-6-5

  • Race 11 11-10-5-7-9

Allegheny Angel (11) just missed in her debut on the turf and should like the return to the grass here. Special Guest (10) comes back off a layoff with a strong series of works and had good form last year. Fanfare (5) ran well in both turf tries and has the pace to be in a good spot. Rare Penny (7) and Core Destination (9) fit well in the Super Hi 5. JILL’S SELECTIONS- 11-10-5-7-9
