Jill Byrne's Handicapping
Metro Dreamer (1) ran a good race at Keeneland last out and should do better making the drop in class. Gauntlet (7) has put together some decent drills in the morning and looks ready to go first out. L.A. Freeway (2) can improve adding blinkers and coming into the race 2nd off the layoff.
Hazards of Love (1) drops back in class to a Starter Allowance field and does well over the Churchill Downs track. Pedrolino (2) switches barns and gets back to a protected spot. Biker Boy (4) loves the Churchill Downs track and does well at this class.
Reason to be Proud (8) gets the services of Rosie Napravnik and can sit a good trip from the outside. Pocket Medal (7) drops in class to an easier spot. Little Willy (1) won by open lengths last out and if he can repeat that effort he will do well in this spot.
Fight the Tide (1) takes a step down in class which should help him. Zander Zone (3) is a lightly raced horse and fits well with this field. Indiana Red (2) should take very well to the one-turn mile and picking up the services of Calvin Borel once more.
Stella Cavallo (4) ran in some good races at Gulfstream over the winter and just missed breaking her maiden in the last start. Candy Crush (2) just missed last out in a good maiden race at Keeneland. Delightful Empire (1) ran a nice effort last time out at Oaklawn Park and fits well with this field
Doc Almon (5) takes a step down in class but if he can return to his efforts a few starts back he will be tough. Wild Target (1) ran an okay effort last out at Keeneland at this same level and can improve making the switch back to dirt.
Haldor (3) drops a few levels in class from MSW competition and switches back to dirt. Rack’em Earl (1) ran an okay effort in his last start and takes a step down in class. Barry Shortpants (5) can improve cutting back in distance.
Set the Sail (8) ran very well in the River City Handicap in his last start. He loves the Matt Winn Turf Course as well. Utley (1) ran a nice effort last out at Keeneland and can improve 2nd off the layoff. Regally Ready (4) has improved greatly since stretching out in distance and fits well with this field.
Back Off Buddy (2) broke his maiden last out by open lengths and fits well in this spot. Relentless Spirit (4) also comes in off of a maiden breaking effort and appears to be an improving colt. Simple Interest (6) switches back to the Churchill Downs conventional dirt where he broke his maiden over last spring.
Jack Milton (2) gets some major class relief dropping out of grade 1 competition to an easier spot. Guest Star (7) won nicely last out at Tampa and has been improving in his last two starts. Cozzetti (9) drops out of stakes competition back to allowance company where he nearly won at in back to back starts over the winter.
Impassable Canyon (7) makes the step down in class and appears to outclass the field. Courtmaster (6) comes in off of two nice efforts. Moon Back More (3) and Brigade (5) look to round off the Super Hi-5.
