(June 11, 2008) – John Oxley’s I’m So Lucky overwhelmed eight rivals to win Wednesday afternoon’s $43,100 Pride of the Virginias’ allowance for 3-year-olds by 4 1/4 lengths at Churchill Downs.

Ridden by Robby Albarado, I’m So Lucky swooped to the lead with a four-wide move off the far turn and cruised to wire well ahead of 46-1 longshot Fit for a Fight. A 3-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Langfuhr, I’m So Lucky covered the six furlongs over a fast track in 1:10.02.

Trained by John Ward, I’m So Lucky returned mutuels of $6.80, $4.40 and $3. Fit for a Fight, ridden by Jesus Castanon, returned $34.80 and $11.40, while Connecticut Yankee, ridden by Bill Troilo, finished another 4 1/4 lengths in back and paid $6 to show.

The victory was the second in four career starts for I’m So Lucky and the $27,031 winner’s share increased his earnings to $65,146.
