ASMUSSEN GETS 8,000th CAREER VICTORY

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Saturday, May 5, 2018) — Trainer Steve Asmussen became the second North American trainer to record 8,000 victories when L and N Racing’s Lookin At Lee took the third race on Saturday’s Kentucky Derby Day card.

Asmussen trails only Dale Baird (9,445) in victories.

Asmussen, who was inducted into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame in 2016, will be saddling Combatant later Saturday in the 144^th running of the $2 million Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (GI).

Lookin At Lee finished second in last year’s Kentucky Derby.
