As you may already be aware, Churchill Downs Incorporated is currently involved in a dispute with horsemen that is affecting Churchill Downs racetrack and Calder Race Course in particular. I want to take a few moments to explain what’s going on and what CDI is doing to resolve this matter.
(May 26, 2008) – Graeme Six collected the first graded stakes win of her career in the $107,600 Winning Colors Stakes (Grade III) with a 1 ½-length triumph over defending champ Miss Macy Sue and Change Up on Memorial Day at Churchill Downs.
Mr and Mrs William Warren’s Denis of Cork tuned up for a run at unbeaten Triple Crown contender Big Brown in the June 7 Belmont Stakes (Grade I) with a strong five-furlong workout on Monday at Churchill Downs.
(May 25, 2008) – Indian Ashton, the 8-5 favorite in a field of 10 three-year-olds and up, broke fast from the gate and never looked back en route to a one-length victory over Probation Ready in Sunday’s $50,400 turf sprint feature at Churchill Downs.

(May 24, 2008) – Jockey Robby Albarado capped a four-win day with a hedge-skimming victory aboard Lattice in Saturday’s $170,100 Louisville Handicap (Grade III) at Churchill Downs. Conditioned by Al Stall Jr., the 4-year-old colt beat 34-1 outsider Transduction Gold by three-quarters of length en route to his second career graded stakes win.

(May 22, 2008) – Jockey Robby Albarado became only the seventh jockey in Churchill Downs history to win 700 races under the Twin Spires when Shive’s Success rallied to three-length victory in Thursday’s seventh race at the historic Louisville track. It was Albarado’s second win of the day.
