Oct 29, 2009 Breeders' Cup Ltd. and Churchill Downs

The Breeders’ Cup and Churchill Downs today have unveiled the official event logo for the 27th running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Churchill Downs, November 5-6, 2010. The 2010 World Championships will mark a record seventh time that Churchill Downs will host the event.  The 2009 Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be held at the Oak Tree Racing Meet at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif. and consists of 14 races and $25.5 million in purses on Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7 and will be televised on ABC and ESPN and in 130 countries.

Six of the seven largest one-day attendance figures in Breeders' Cup history have been recorded at Churchill Downs, including the record crowd of 80,452 that witnessed the event in 1998.

The 2010 Breeders Cup logo incorporates the Breeders’ Cup classic and elegant purple with the Thoroughbred mark in the center of the logo and one of the most recognizable icons in sports, the twin spires at Churchill Downs shaded in silver with the center circle enveloped by a silver outer ring. The words “World Championships” are placed in an arc over the top of the logo and “Churchill Downs” under the circle.  Combined, the logo captures the prestige of the Breeders’ Cup with the timeless architecture associated with the twin spires of Churchill Downs.
