Churchill Downs Stakes Advances: Parchment Party Tops Field of Nine for Isaac Murphy Marathon; Ward Duo Tops Kentucky Juvenile Field of Eight

Pin Oak Stud’s Parchment Party headlines a field of nine for the eighth running of the $200,000 Isaac Murphy Marathon (Listed) Presented by Resolute Racing for 4-year-olds and up going a mile and a half on the main track next Wednesday.

The Isaac Murphy Marathon will go as the ninth race with a 4:56 p.m. post time (all times Eastern) on the 10-race program beginning at 12:45 p.m.

Trained by Bill Mott, Parchment Party has won his past three main track starts at distances from 1 ½ miles to 1 ¾ miles. John Velazquez has the mount from post No. 2.

Looming as the main challenger to Parchment Party is Duplo Ouro Stables’ No Bien Ni Mal (BRZ).

Trained by Paulo Lobo, No Bien Ni Mal has won both of his starts in the United States including the Greenwood Cup (GIII) last fall at Parx. Joel Rosario has the mount from post 1.

WARD DUO TOPS KENTUCKY JUVENILE FIELD OF EIGHT – Trainer Wesley Ward will be shooting for back-to-back victories in the $250,000 Kentucky Juvenile Presented by Resolute Racing for 2-year-olds going five furlongs on the main track when he sends out debut Keeneland winners Skara Brae and Waggley in a field of eight.

The Kentucky Juvenile will go as the afternoon’s sixth race with a 3:20 p.m. post time.

Ward, who won the Kentucky Juvenile for the fourth time last year with Pinky Finger, has Skara Brae and Waggley for Ten Broeck Farm.

John Velazquez has the mount on Skara Brae, a 4 ½-length winner going 4 ½ furlongs at Keeneland on April 9 while Joel Rosario will ride Waggley, a 3 ½-length debut winner on April 8.
