Churchill Downs Update: Stakes Doubleheader, Twilight Thursday Highlight Five-Day Week at Churchill Downs

Jun 10, 2026

A stakes doubleheader featuring one of North America’s top turf marathoners Burnham Square and Grade I winner Percy’s Bar, along with Thursday’s popular Twilight Thursday promotion, headline a five-day week of racing at Churchill Downs.

The week began Wednesday with a nine-race card and carryovers of $30,235 in the 20-cent Derby City 6 Jackpot and $148,531 in the Jackpot 8. Daily first post is 12:45 p.m. (all times Eastern) except Thursday’s Twilight Thursday program, which begins at 5 p.m.

Twilight Thursday features $2 domestic draft beer, live music from Ben Bernhard and local food trucks Drake’s, Lil Cheezers, Mr. C’s Cheesecakes, Soul Fire Company and Spinelli’s Pizza.

Saturday’s 11-race card is anchored by the $225,000 Chorleywood Stakes (Listed) and $175,000 Monomoy Girl Overnight Stakes.

Whitham Thoroughbreds’ Burnham Square was installed as the 2-5 morning-line favorite in the Chorleywood, a 1 3/8-mile turf test that attracted a field of nine. Trained by Ian Wilkes, the 4-year-old gelding enters the race off dominant victories in the Louisville Stakes (GIII) and Elkhorn Stakes (GII). Brian Hernandez Jr. has the mount from the rail.

Trained by Ben Colebrook, Percy’s Bar won the Ashland by 2 ¼ lengths in April before finishing seventh in the Longines Kentucky Oaks (GI). The daughter of Upstart also won last year’s Debutante Stakes (Listed) at Churchill Downs and crossed the wire first in the Alcibiades Stakes (GI) before being disqualified for interference. Luan Machado, aboard for all seven of her career starts, has the call from post No. 5.
