(June 5, 2008) – Richard, Bertram and Elaine Klein’s Be Golden led every step of the way to win Thursday’s $45,200 allowance feature for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up at Churchill Downs by 5 ¼ lengths over Lenawee.

A 4-year-old daughter of 1997 Belmont Stakes winner Touch Gold, Be Golden covered the 6 ½ furlongs over a fast main track in 1:16.65 to record her third victory in nine career starts.

Trained by Steve Margolis and ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, Be Golden returned mutuels of $5.60, $3.20 and $3 as the favorite in the field of eight. Lenawee, ridden by Jamie Theriot, paid $4.20 and $3.40, while Kristabella, under Brian Hernandez Jr., finished another four lengths back in third and returned $7.20 to show.

The winner earned $28,348 to increase her career earnings to $98,088.
