Churchill Downs is located at 700 Central Ave in Louisville, Kentucky. Our venue is just outside of the Louisville International Airport and about 15 minutes from downtown Louisville.

 

Absolutely. We welcome guests to explore the grounds, visit exhibits at the Kentucky Derby Museum, and take a guided tour of the property even when live racing isn’t taking place.

 

Yes, guided tours of the racetrack are hosted by the Kentucky Derby Museum. Tours are available every day of the week from December 1st – March 30th and resume April 1st – November 30th. Tours are not available during Kentucky Derby weekend, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

While dressing up is part of the Kentucky Derby tradition, most of the other race days at Churchill Downs have a more relaxed attire. There are three types of dress codes required when visiting Churchill Downs: track casual, smart casual, and business casual.

Track Casual

Track casual dress is required in the Aristides Lounge & Loft, Champions Bar & Balcony, First Turn Club Dining, Gold Room, Homestretch Club, Millionaires Row, Skye Terrace, Stakes Room & Balcony, and Winner’s Circle Suites.

Acceptable attire includes: Optional jackets or blazers, vests and sweaters, collared shirts, dresses, pantsuits, dress jeans, shorts, or slacks, golf shorts, and capris.

Inappropriate attire includes: crop tops, worn/torn garments, athletic wear, swim wear, frayed/torn denim, and flip flops.

Smart Causal

This dress code is required in the Oaks & Derby Room, Grand Foyer, Jockey Club Suites, Matt Winn’s Steakhouse, Roses Lounge, Starting Gate Suites, Triple Crown Room & Balcony, and Turf Club Boxes.

Smart casual attire includes: optional jackets and blazers, sweaters and vests, collared shirts, pantsuits, dresses, dress jeans and shorts, and slacks.

Inappropriate clothing items include: t-shirts, cargo shirts, crop tops, swim wear, athletic wear, frayed/torn denim or shorts, and tennis shoes.

Business Casual

Business casual dress is required in the following areas: the Directors Room, Finish Line Suites & Balcony, Spires Terrace & Suites, Trophy Room, Turf Club Roses Lounge, and Turf Club Terrace & Balcony.

Acceptable business casual attire include: jackets and blazers, vests and sweaters, collared shirts, dresses, pantsuits, capris, and slacks are acceptable forms of attire.

Jeans or shorts, t-shirts, crop tops, athletic or swim wear, and flip flops are not permitted.

 

Tickets are required to attend racing events. There are several types of tickets available including general admission tickets, Reserved Seating, group ticket packages, and membership packages for frequent visitors. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the box office or through Ticketmaster and accessed digitally through the Churchill Downs app.

 

Ticket pricing varies based on the type of ticket purchased. Seating experiences include general admission, reserved seating, dining experiences, and suites or private rooms. Pricing for each ticket is also subject to change based on the specific event and time of year. For questions concerning ticket pricing, please contact our team.

 

There is plenty of FREE parking for guests visiting Churchill Downs. The specific lots available for parking are subject to change based on the time of year and event. We recommend planning ahead and checking which parking lots are open before every race or event.
