Churchill Downs News Updates: Immersive Finalizes Major Preparation for Monomoy Girl Stakes

Jun 08, 2025

Godolphin’s undefeated 2024 Eclipse Award Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Immersive finalized her major preparation before Saturday’s $175,000 Monomoy Girl Overnight Stakes with a solid half-mile move in :49.20 Sunday morning at Churchill Downs.

Immersive, a three-time Grade I winner, returned to the work tab at Churchill Downs in early May after being sidelined with bone bruising since her Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (GI) victory in early November. Leading into the Monomoy Girl, Immersive has posted six published workouts including her latest move Sunday morning.

“We’re looking forward to getting her started again,” trainer Brad Cox said. “She’s doing well since coming back to the string at Churchill and looks just as good as she did as a 2-year-old.”

Under Cox’s exercise rider Joel Osorio, Immersive began her Sunday move with an opening quarter-mile in :25.40 and galloped out five furlongs in 1:01.80. Jockey Manny Franco has the call from post No. 2.

Run at 1 1/16 miles, the Monomoy Girl will be the fifth race on the 11-race card. First post is 12:45 p.m. (all times Eastern) with the Monomoy Girl field scheduled to go to post at 2:46 p.m. Along with the Monomoy Girl, the card also includes the $200,000 Chorleywood (Listed) in Race 10 at 5:27 p.m.

The Monomoy Girl field in order of post position (with jockey and trainer):

Princess Aliyah (Nik Juarez, Wayne Lukas)
Immersive (Franco, Cox)
Anna’s Promise (Luis Saez, Carlos David)
Minnesota Munny (Adam Beschizza, Kelsey Danner)
Running Away (John Velazquez, Wesley Ward)
