Churchill Downs Update: Breeders' Cup Distaff Third Regaled Returns for Falls City on Thanksgiving Day
Nov 26, 2025

IRREPRESSIBLE Turfway Park Florence, KY December 26, 2021 Race #03 Purse $31,000 One Mile 1:38.01 Joseph F. Graffeo, Owner D. Whitworth Beckman, Trainer Rafael Bejarano, Jockey
Breeders’ Cup Distaff (Grade I) third-place finisher Regaled impressed her connections earlier this month with her effort at Del Mar and they appear confident she can add another graded stakes victory to her resume in the 110th running of the $400,000 Falls City (GIII), the featured event on the Thanksgiving Day card at Churchill Downs.
“She ran a huge race in the Breeders’ Cup on a track where no one was able to be successful closing from where she was in the race,” trainer Whit Beckman said. “She made a big move and our thought process was to see how she came out of it and target the Falls City if all was well. She bounced out of it great and I’m really looking forward to getting her back to Churchill in this spot. After this race, we’ll give her some time off over the winter and we’re really excited about her potential into next year.”
Owned by Ribble Farms and Front Page Equestrian, Regaled closed from nine lengths off the early pace in the Breeders’ Cup to finish third, six lengths behind gate-to-wire winner Scylla. She’ll be ridden by Joe Ramos in the Falls City from post No. 9.
Thanksgiving Day at Churchill Downs has been a Louisville tradition since 1969, serving around 7,500 turkey dinners with all the trimmings, making it the largest number anywhere in the region. The first of 12 races will get underway early at 11:30 a.m. (all times Eastern) with the Falls City going as Race 10 at 3:45 p.m. Along with the Falls City, the program also includes the 50th running of the $300,000 Cardinal presented by Resolute Racing (Listed) in Race 11 at 4:14 p.m.

DUBAI WORLD CUP WINNER HIT SHOW MADE 3-1 FAVORITE IN FRIDAY’S CLARK – Wathnan Racing’s Dubai World Cup (Grade I) winner Hit Show as tabbed as the lukewarm 3-1 morning line choice against a competitive field of nine horses entered in Friday’s $600,000 Clark presented by Norton Healthcare (GII) at Churchill Downs.
Hit Show, who won last month’s Fayette Stakes (GIII) at Keeneland, is one of two horses in the field from trainer Brad Cox’s barn. The other, Godolphin’s multiple graded stakes winner First Mission, will break one post to Hit Show’s inside.
“We were really proud of Hit Show’s effort in the Fayette,” Cox said. “He broke well and was able to sit a good trip. He hasn’t missed a beat since winning the Dubai World Cup. We’re looking forward to another top effort in the Clark.”
Hit Show drew post No. 3 and will be ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr.
First Mission, who was victorious in the 2024 Alysheba (GII) at Churchill Downs, will be making his final start in the Clark before becoming a stallion at Darley.
“The Clark is First Mission’s final start before he retires to stud duty,” Cox said. “Figures wise, he’s run a lot of races that stacked up with the best horses in the country. It was a disappointing race last out in the Goodwood but has trained forwardly out of it since coming back to Churchill. We expect him to bounce back on Friday.”
Jockey Flavien Prat will be in town to ride First Mission and exit post 2.
Run at 1 1/8 miles, the Clark carries a storied history with past winners including champions Gun Runner, Will Take Charge, Wise Dan, Blame, Saint Liam and Silver Charm. Friday’s Clark field will go to post at 5:54 p.m. (all times Eastern) in Race 11. The 12-race program also features the 34th running of the $300,000 Mrs. Revere (GIII) for 3-year-old fillies on turf as Race 10 at 5:25 p.m. First post is 1 p.m.
